Chapter 150 Getting Involved
Chapter 150 Getting Involved
Hiroichi Nozawa's expression changed drastically, and he froze on the spot.
Bai Yexiu wiped the blood splattered on his face and turned to go to the next room. After all, the grand show for Nozawa Hiroichi had not yet truly begun.
Clearly, Bai Yexiu and Gin's actions had a deterrent effect. In the next few rooms, there were hardly any people hiding their subordinates. It seemed that they had been intimidated by Gin, and their eyes showed some fear.
Bai Yexiu shook his head helplessly as he recalled how diligently Gin dragged the corpse out.
It seems that none of the rooms here have been renovated by Gin. As expected, a workaholic is a workaholic no matter where he is.
But what puzzled him most was why Gin would suddenly decide to come here for a late-night chat.
After all, Gin is usually too busy to attend, and he doesn't care to attend. So why would he cancel his schedule to attend this late-night chat?
But just as the thought crossed his mind, he heard unhurried footsteps behind him, followed by Gin's cold words.
"The show starts in three minutes, aren't we going to get there early?"
Bai Yexiu didn't turn to look at him, nor did he answer his question: "A busy person like you actually has time to attend this late-night chat. May I ask why?"
Gin chuckled, then suddenly bent down and whispered in Bai Yexiu's ear, "I know you better than you think."
The warm breath tickled Bai Yeshou's ear.
Faced with Gin's sudden behavior, Bai Yexiu chuckled softly, turned around, and gave the man in front of him an innocent smile.
"Koto-chan, what do you think of me?"
Bai Yexiu's question made the conversation somewhat nonsensical, but Gin smiled without saying a word, stepped aside, and pointed to the corridor behind him.
It turned out to be the gatekeeper, Nitta, carrying a large box as he walked over: "Young Master, this was just delivered by an acquaintance of yours."
As the box approached, the faint smell of blood and decay made Gin frown almost imperceptibly, but he didn't ask what was inside.
Bai Yexiu frowned, but the smell was expected. After all, the heads inside had been sitting for several days, and even with preservation measures, they were somewhat rotten.
Gin checked the time and turned to leave, but Bai Yexiu quickly grabbed his sleeve.
Nitta's butler tactfully left.
Just as Bai Yexiu was about to say something, Gin grabbed his arm.
"It's time. Let's go to the venue now."
"you……"
Gin used his familiar rough and forceful manner to drag Bai Yexiu to the venue. Bai Yexiu felt strange about Gin today, but didn't know how to ask him.
Could it be that Gin has noticed something?
Bai Yexiu felt a little panicked, since he currently had no way of knowing which side Gin was on.
The late-night chat took place in a large dining room inside the castle. The room was ornately decorated, with a long, rustic table that could seat more than 30 people. Fruit was thoughtfully placed on the table, and the head seat, as in previous years, remained empty. Above it, a familiar LCD screen hung on the wall.
A group of dignitaries wearing various masks sat around a long table, their expensive suits clearly demonstrating their status.
The entire venue was unusually quiet, with only the occasional static and buzzing sound from the LCD screen on the wall.
Beside the door, Bai Yexiu shook off Gin's hand and straightened his disheveled clothes. Gin wasn't annoyed, looking down at Bai Yexiu with a half-smile.
Some people inside had already noticed the two outside. Bai Yexiu knew this wasn't the place to talk, so he shut his mouth, straightened his appearance, and stepped inside. Gin followed closely behind.
Perhaps it was the imposing presence of the two walking side by side into the venue that caused everyone at the long table to stop their pleasantries and fall silent for a moment.
This place is exactly the same as when I came here a few years ago. The pairs of eyes that were cast at him reminded Bai Yexiu of that scene, but he was no longer the timid child he used to be.
Why does the boss insist on leaving an empty chair in the chief's seat every year when he never personally attends the late-night chats?
The boss once asked him to personally attend a late-night chat, but no chair was set out for him; there was only an empty chair for the chief.
The answer was simple, and he quickly figured it out.
This is a trap.
As long as he sits on this empty chair, he will become a shield, even if he is just a caged bird.
He will gain a little of the respect and status he used to want, but becoming a complete shield is the price he pays for these things.
The boss used to ignore the harsh words spoken by the higher-ups, which was a way of forcing Bai Yexiu to sit in that chair.
Even the so-called adopted son status they were given was part of an unknown "scheme".
After all, an organization cannot have two "bosses." If one does, the weaker one will become a puppet and shield for the stronger one.
For Bai Yexiu now, getting involved is also a way of testing the waters, even though it's quite risky.
Even if he now disdains what he has gained in return, it still has some use.
Bai Yexiu slammed the large gift box onto the table, sat down in the chief's seat without a word, and completely ignored the astonished looks of everyone.
"Hello everyone, it's been a long time."
Whispers immediately filled the room, and...
“Cointreau? This…”
Wearing a mask, Skaman stood up from his seat, looking surprised and suspicious.
Several of Bai Yexiu's acquaintances at the scene were quite surprised, but Bai Yexiu did not give them a chance to speak. Instead, he took out several recording pens from his pocket and placed them on the table with a subtle smile.
The static on the overhead screen suddenly disappeared, and a dark image popped out from it.
This is an image of the boss.
The minute hand pointed to 12 o'clock. Gin stood a meter away from Byakuya, and the old wall clock chimed.
The late-night chat officially began.

I've been doing a school internship for the past few months, and I've been getting off work too late to have much time to update my novel 5555. Don't worry, I'll start updating like crazy during the summer vacation. Updates will be a bit slower these next few months, please forgive me! I've been on hiatus for so long, and I'm so grateful that everyone is still supporting me!!!
