Chapter 56 Susan's SOS: The Slaying of the Demon Deliora!
Chapter 56 Susan's SOS: The Slaying of the Demon Deliora!
In the end, Ido's daily sparring with Uru still ended in Ido's victory. The battle between two annihilation-type mages, when it came to the final stage of determining the winner, still returned to the most basic contest of magic power.
"hateful."
"I really can't compare to you, Ide."
Uru sighed at Id's formidable strength and shook his head helplessly.
"Ha ha."
"Uru, if you want to catch up with my current level, I'm afraid you'll need to spend another ten or eight years honing your skills."
Ide chuckled and said confidently.
However, given Ide's current cultivation speed, in ten or eight years, his strength will probably have already broken through again.
"alright."
"The sparring session is over."
"Next is teaching time."
After thoroughly enjoying a sparring match with Ulquiorra, Ido then transformed into a teacher for Ultear, Erza, Laxus, and Cana, instructing them in literature and magic.
Id is a master of time management, making the most of every second of his life.
And just like that, a month passed in the blink of an eye.
During this month, Ide continued his life of enjoying fighting, teaching, and sleeping, almost a three-point routine.
Until a few days ago, Uru believed that practical combat was more important than theoretical teaching, so he took Erza, Ultear and Cana out on a mission. Only then did Ido become relaxed and had nothing to do.
Incidentally, Uru also invited Laxus to do a mission together, but Laxus was rather rebellious (or shy), so he declined Uru's invitation and chose to go out and do an A-rank mission by himself.
During this period, Gildarts did not return to the guild.
Next to the bar inside the Fairy Tail guild.
"Speaking of which, what on earth has Gildarts been up to? Why hasn't he returned to the guild yet?"
Sitting next to Old Ma, who had just returned to the guild after attending the guild leader's meeting, Ide asked, puzzled.
"oh."
"Kildarts said he wanted to prepare for the 'Centennial Quest' in the future, so he chose a ten-year quest that's said to be the most difficult in history. I don't think he'll be able to return to the guild anytime soon."
Old Ma held his wine glass, took a small sip, and replied thoughtfully.
"ha?!"
"With Gildarts' current strength, even completing the legendary ten-year mission would take far too long, wouldn't it?"
"Could it be that Gildarts got arrested and imprisoned halfway through a mission for failing to harass an innocent woman?!"
Ide smiled, directly mocking a certain "scumbag king".
Well, because Id hadn't been able to wait for Gildarts to return to the guild, he felt extremely uncomfortable not being able to mock Gildarts to his face, so he could only speculate about the reasons why Gildarts hadn't returned to the guild.
"Don't tell."
"You really shouldn't say that."
Makarov was sweating profusely. Given Kirdas's bastardly ways, he really might have done it.
"no."
"I absolutely cannot let Gildarts surpass me."
Thinking of this, Ide slammed his hand on the table, stood up abruptly from beside the bar, and strode toward the guild's second-floor 'S-rank' mission board.
Since Uru and the others aren't in the guild anyway, he might as well do a ten-year quest.
"Id, are you also going on a ten-year mission?"
"However, let me make this clear first, the remaining ten years of missions in the guild are all incredibly difficult."
Makarov then followed Ido to the quest board on the second floor of the guild, where he explained to Ido what the Fairy Tail guild's ten-year-old quests were.
"ha?"
"Are there any easy tasks in a ten-year mission?"
Id didn't really care; what he wanted were challenging tasks.
"That's true."
Makarov paused for a moment, then nodded.
If these tasks weren't difficult, they wouldn't have remained unfinished for over a decade.
"Investigate the Dark Magisters' Guild, Twilight Gate."
"To bring down the notorious and extremely wanted criminal Hades."
"Defeat Deliora, the demon in the Book of Zeref."
Looking at the tasks laid out before him, one after another, Id frowned, seemingly unsure which one to complete first.
"Are Mr. Id and Ms. Uru here?"
Just as Ido stood in front of the 'S-Rank Missions' signboard, silently pondering which mission he should complete, a soft shout rang out from the Fairy Tail guild hall.
"I am here."
Upon hearing this, Id immediately responded.
"Hello."
"Your letter is here."
Just as Ide arrived at the railing on the second floor of the guild and looked down into the guild hall on the first floor, he saw a postman standing in the crowd, smiling and waving at him.
"letter?!"
Upon seeing this, Id leaped directly from the second floor of the guild, landing gracefully in front of the postman.
Thank you.
Then, Id first thanked the postman in front of him before taking the letter from the distant Kingdom of Isban.
"Then I'll take my leave."
After completing his task, the postman smiled slightly at Id and then left.
"Um."
After watching the young man leave, Id gently opened the envelope in his hand and whispered:
"To Id and Uru."
"How have you been lately?"
"Has Ulutia's illness been cured?"
"When are you guys going back to your hometown for a visit?! I miss you all."
As Id had expected, the letter started with some polite words, but then the tone suddenly shifted and it got to the point.
"Okay, actually I do have something to ask of you!"
"Recently, a vicious demon named Deliola has inexplicably appeared in the Kingdom of Isban."
"Rumor has it that it has destroyed several towns and is getting closer and closer to our town."
"During this period, His Majesty the King organized no fewer than ten campaigns against Deliola, all of which ended in failure."
"Right now, I'm truly at my wit's end, except to ask you two for help! I implore you to successfully defeat Deliora for the sake of our town and homeland."
"Your good friend—Susan."
Id quickly finished reading the letter Susan had sent him and Uru. He frowned and muttered to himself, "Defeat the demon Deliora? The demon Deliora from the ten-year mission?"
"Id, have you decided what mission you want to complete?"
Just as Id was pondering, Makarov's voice suddenly came from the second floor.
"Um."
"Of course I've thought it through."
After gently folding the letter and tucking it into his pocket, Id looked up at Makarov sitting on the second floor and said softly, "Let me go and take care of that blind fool Deliora."
