"Hey, Matsuda, are you done yet?"
The noises caused by ghosts and vengeful spirits are usually unnoticed by ordinary people, except for those with strong psychic abilities and the person being haunted.
"All right."
Matsuda opened the cell door and saw Sato standing impatiently at the door.
"Why are you taking so long?" Sato complained. "I've already spoken to Inspector Megure on the phone, and he told us to go back first."
“Before we go back, let’s go check on the prisoner again,” Matsuda suggested. “Perhaps her condition has improved.”
"also."
Sato was also concerned about Hitomi's situation, so naturally he did not object.
The two returned to the interrogation room, where Xiaotong still sat there, looking tense.
Matsuda asked a prison guard to bring him a glass of water. After taking it, when no one was paying attention, he brushed his right hand across the surface of the water and sprinkled in some calming powder that he had obtained from the system. Then he handed the glass to Hitomi.
"Don't worry, Kishida isn't in your room anymore," Matsuda whispered in Kotomi's ear while delivering water.
Xiaotong paused, looking at Matsuda with surprise: "You...believe me?"
"Okay, drink it. Drink the water, go back and get a good night's sleep. You'll be fine tomorrow," Matsuda comforted softly.
……
In the red Mazda, Sato prayed, "I hope she really can do what you said, get some sleep, and be normal by tomorrow."
"Don't worry, she'll be fine." Matsuda smiled.
The ghost has been captured. If Xiaotong doesn't recover by tomorrow after drinking that calming water, that would be a strange thing.
The two had been detained for so long that it was already dark when they came out.
Matsuda and Sato were preparing to return to the Metropolitan Police Department when Sato's phone rang again.
"It's Inspector Megure."
Sato glanced at the number displayed on his phone and answered it.
After a few short words, she hung up the phone.
"Another case?" Matsuda sat next to him, vaguely hearing something like someone had died somewhere.
"Yes, a man died at Miss Yoko's house," Sato said casually as he drove.
"Miss Yoko?" Matsuda frowned.
"Sorry, I forgot you've been in a coma for the past three years,"
Sato noticed Matsuda's surprise and quickly explained,
"Three years ago, I think she was in some kind of group or band with other people,"
"After the group disbanded, she went solo and became increasingly famous. There were even many people in the Metropolitan Police Department who were her fans."
……
When Sato drove Matsuda to the crime scene, Inspector Megure had already been there for quite some time.
Upon entering the room where the murder occurred, Matsuda saw a stunningly beautiful woman with long, curly blonde hair, deep blue eyes, and a sorrowful expression.
Sato introduced him in a low voice, saying that this was the big star, Yoko Okino.
Yoko Okino was accompanied by a middle-aged man, her manager, Mr. Yamagishi.
Besides the two men and the police, a group of people on the side were also particularly eye-catching: a thin, middle-aged man with a mustache, a pretty girl with slightly protruding bangs, and four little devils running around on the ground.
"Inspector Megure, isn't it inappropriate to let outsiders walk around freely at the crime scene?" Matsuda said deliberately.
"Hey, I'm a detective, I can assist the police in solving cases!" Kogoro Mouri immediately expressed his dissatisfaction.
"I'm sorry, it's all because of my father..." Xiaolan had only said half of her apologetic words when she recognized Matsuda and immediately let out a scream.
As expected of the professional girl responsible for most of the screams in the Conan world, her shout immediately drew the attention of everyone else in the room to Matsuda.
"You...you're the hero of the Metropolitan Police Department, Officer Matsuda!" Ran exclaimed excitedly.
"Wow, it really is the great hero, Officer Matsuda!"
The little girl, Ayumi, placed her hands on her chest, her eyes filled with adoration.
"Who is he?" the chubby boy, Yuan Tai, asked innocently.
Chapter 6: Deduction is nowhere near as convenient as summoning spirits.
"Genta, how could you not know him!" the clever Mitsuhiko explained. "The newspapers and news have been reporting on him all along. Three years ago, Officer Matsuda sacrificed himself to save Beika Central Hospital!"
“He’s amazing,” Ayumi exclaimed, then reached out and tugged at the arm of the bespectacled boy next to her. “You agree, right, Edogawa-kun?”
Ha ha……
Conan chuckled dryly, but in his heart he thought, as a policeman he was indeed qualified, but if it were me, I would have guessed the location of the bomb long ago, and I would never have put myself in danger!
Just as Conan thought of this, he felt a weight on his head. When he looked up, he saw that the heroic policeman had placed his hand on his forehead.
Matsuda ruffled Conan's hair with abandon: "Mr. Mori is a detective who can assist the police in solving cases, but what about these kids? What use are they anyway?"
"Sorry, I'll take them out now." After saying that, Ran tried to lead Conan away.
Unexpectedly, Conan shook off her hand and started running around the room, crying and screaming like a child: "No, I don't want to go, I want to play here..."
"Conan seems like a little kid," Mitsuhiko remarked.
"That's really lame," Genta said.
"Officer Matsuda, we're not like Edogawa-kun; we won't run away. Can we stay here?"
Ayumi tugged at Matsuda's trouser leg, looked up, and asked in a cute way.
“Of course you can, good girl,” Matsuda patted Ayumi’s head, “but remember, never touch anything here.”
"Yes!" the three little devils replied in unison.
Damn it, if I had known that acting cute would have been enough, why did I pretend to be a crying child? Now my image is completely ruined!
Conan was on the verge of tears.
"Alright, Matsuda, stop fooling around with the kids and get back to work!" Sato urged.
"Yes……"
After disgusting Death for a moment, Matsuda became serious. He looked around the room but found no ghosts.
Strange, wasn't the victim already dead?
Where is the soul?
At this point, the system popped up and gave the reason.
"After a person dies, the soul is still temporarily imprisoned in the body. The time it takes to leave the body is determined by the resentment of the soul."
"The deeper the resentment of a soul, the faster it leaves its body! It may leave the body as soon as it dies, within two or three hours."
"The shallower the resentment of the soul, the slower it will leave the body! It may take up to seven days for the soul to completely leave the body."
"Buddhists have always believed that a person should not be buried until seven days after death, and this is the reason why."
So, the only option is to forcibly summon the spirit?
Matsuda glanced at the system shop; the Summoning Technique required 300 merit points, which he could afford.
However, since we're already in the world of Conan, let's try solving cases using deduction first.
He still remembered quite a bit about this case; it seemed to be a suicide.
Matsuda scratched his head and asked Inspector Megure, "Inspector, what leads have you found so far?"
"There's not much information that's been clarified yet, only..." Inspector Megure briefly explained the situation to Matsuda and Sato, who had just arrived at the scene.
"Ms. Yoko Okino, do you know the deceased?" Sato asked.
“We have already inquired, and Ms. Yoko Okino and her agent both stated that they do not know the deceased.”
"Why is this room so hot? The air conditioner is on heating." Matsuda grabbed his collar and fanned himself.
“Hmm, this is the first strange thing,” Inspector Megure said, looking at the notes in his hand. “Ms. Yoko Okino said that she was sure she should have turned off the air conditioning before she left.”
The air conditioner was originally off, but for some reason it's on again? There's clearly something wrong here!
Thinking of this, Matsuda noticed Conan squatting on the floor next to the corpse, so he followed him.
He soon noticed that the floor next to the body was damp and the room was in a mess, but the chair in the middle was neatly arranged.
Later, from the conversation between Inspector Megure and Sato, it was learned that the manager had lost the spare key to Yoko Okino's house a few days earlier.
At that moment, Mori, who had been asking Yoko Okino about the earring because Conan had discovered it, suddenly shouted excitedly.
"I understand. The murderer is Ms. Okino Yoko's rival, Ikezawa Yuko."
"She's holding a grudge because the lead actress in the drama series was replaced by Ms. Yoko. She must be the murderer. Inspector Megure, go and arrest that person immediately!"
Urged on by Mori, Inspector Megure sent someone to fetch actress Yuko Ikezawa.
"A dead body was found in Yoko's room, and you're saying I'm the murderer?"
Yuko Ikezawa protested, "Even if you want to frame me, you need solid evidence, right?"
After saying that, she went to the restroom on her own.
Uh, how exactly did the deceased commit suicide?
Matsuda scratched his head in confusion; his brain was clearly not suited for sophisticated reasoning.
Because he kept sticking to me, Conan couldn't take it anymore: "Officer, why have you been following me since just now?"
This guy keeps following us. If this continues, once he finds out the truth, how will we be able to use Uncle Mori to solve the case?
Even if I got the voice changer from the doctor, it wouldn't work!
"Oh, I was afraid you'd tamper with the crime scene,"
Matsuda patted Conan on the head and gave a casual reply.
Seeing that the reasoning was hopeless, he could only make an excuse and go into the bathroom.
