Chapter 161 Surprise
"Looks like you've gained a lot in the half hour you've been away from Hogwarts?" Dumbledore raised an eyebrow as he saw Kane pull out an exquisite glasses case from his hat.
"Pretty much. I've found a clue to communicating with the moon." Kane said, taking out his anti-demon glasses from his glasses case.
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow. "These glasses look familiar. Are they Miss Lovegood's?"
"To be precise, it belongs to her mother. Through these glasses, you can see a small, silvery-white, transparent ghost called a Moon Spirit."
Kane placed his glasses on the table, and Dumbledore picked them up and put them on. He looked at Kane, then at Lupin: "Nothing."
Kane then remembered himself and quickly stood up, walking at least ten meters away: "How about we look at it now?"
Dumbledore first glanced at Kane, still nothing, then looked at Lupin, and this time it made sense.
"Looks like these cute little elves don't like you, Kane."
"It would be strange if they liked me," Kane said casually.
Lupin stared curiously at Dumbledore's glasses, wondering what kind of elf it was. "Let me see too!"
Dumbledore understood the expression on Lupin's face and was about to reach for his glasses with one hand when Kane interrupted him: "Both hands, Dumbledore, please take care of these glasses."
"Oh, of course, of course I will." Dumbledore quickly and carefully took off his glasses with both hands, and instead of handing them directly to Lupin, he placed them steadily on the table and looked at Lupin.
The latter also very carefully picked up the glasses with both hands and put them on his face.
Ignoring Lupin's surprised exclamation and odd reaction upon putting on his glasses, Dumbledore looked at Kane with great interest.
On the other side, Lupin was still circling around, looking at the Moon Spirits through his anti-demon glasses, until Kane patted him on the shoulder, took off the glasses from his face and put them back on his own, which made him realize what was happening.
"What is that?" Lupin asked.
"Moon Spirit? As the name suggests, it can be understood as the spirit of the moon."
"The one in the sky?" Lupin asked.
"Theoretically, it can't be the one in the sky, but if I were to find a moon here that can be compared to the moon, it would have to be the one in the sky." After saying that, Kane took out a pocket watch with a perpetual calendar, weekdays, and moon phases from his pocket. He had dug it up from a grave earlier.
He glanced at the moon phases: "The full moon this month is still seven days away. I will observe the differences between the regular moon and the full moon to figure out which moon we should try to reach."
As he spoke, he headed toward the stairwell. It was already evening, and he planned to go to the astronomical tower in advance to arrange the seats.
Lupin quickly followed, after all, this was ultimately his own business, and he certainly couldn't let Kane handle everything alone.
And he had more questions to ask.
"What if neither of the two moons is the one we're looking for?"
"Then we'll probably really have to leave Hogwarts, and we might even have to go out to sea," Kane said casually, raising an eyebrow.
Soon, at the Astronomy Tower, Lupin used magic to build two incredibly comfortable human nests, and Kane had already changed into his pajamas and crawled into one of them.
He doesn't plan to go back to his dorm to sleep today; sleeping at the Astronomical Tower is a good option.
There was moonlight, stars, and a cool breeze, and this open-air feeling reminded him of the days he spent sleeping outdoors in the Eternal Realm.
But now is not the time to reminisce about those days, because as the glowing clouds on the horizon gradually thinned, the moon was about to slowly emerge.
Seeing this, Kane took out his glasses case from his pocket, put the anti-demon glasses on his face, and then put them back in the case with a disappointed look. He then closed his eyes and went to sleep.
Lupin, standing to the side, was also completely bewildered by what he saw. So, this meant they had failed?
He guessed correctly; Kane's attempt to observe the moon had indeed failed.
Because from the perspective of the anti-demon glasses, the moon hanging high in the sky is still the same calm moon, and has not turned into a ferocious eyeball. Well, perhaps it's because it's not a full moon today.
A week later, when the moon is full, take another look.
Seeing that Kane had fallen asleep, Lupin chose not to disturb him and wrapped himself up tightly in his own bed, intending to drift off to sleep, but unfortunately, he failed.
Well, maybe he was just excited to be back at Hogwarts, or maybe Kane really did find a magical artifact somewhere that seemed to allow him to communicate with the moon.
In short, I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.
Early the next morning.
Kane climbed out of the hut, took out his clothes from his hat, dressed himself, and looked at Lupin, who was not far away, leaning on the railing of the Astronomical Tower, looking at the Black Lake in the distance.
"You're up so early?" he greeted casually, while Lupin shook his head. "I didn't sleep all night. I'm planning to visit Hagrid. Want to come along? By the way, I haven't asked yet, how's your relationship with Hagrid?"
"Great, it just so happens I needed to go to the Forbidden Forest anyway."
Kane rubbed his face with great interest. He planned to go to the Forbidden Forest to gather some living wood to make a teleportation wand. After all, he had been studying magic for so long, and every time he saw Dumbledore and some adult wizards use Apparition, he was extremely envious.
However, that magic is like a driver's license in Muggle society; you need to meet an age requirement, and I'm not old enough right now.
However, since Apparition is not allowed, he can just use his teleportation wand to teleport manually, and no one will bother him then.
Kane, happily envisioning a bright future, arrived at the Great Hall with Lupin. The two ate a casual meal and then left Hogwarts Castle, heading towards Hagrid's Hut.
Hagrid, who was chopping wood in the courtyard, saw the two of them from afar, put down his axe, and waved to them excitedly.
Unlike the excited Hagrid, Lupin was filled with indescribable terror.
Because he saw the huge bull in Hagrid's yard, and the two Mandela men brushing its fur.
"What kind of new species is this? What kind of magical creatures did Hagrid go to such extremes to create these species?" Lupin whispered in Kane's ear.
"Um... this is what I did," Kane said quietly.
Lupin remained silent for a while, but ultimately felt that Kane was trying so hard to help him, and that it was inappropriate for him to say that Kane was insanely conducting biological experiments.
He eventually changed the subject, saying, "Perhaps you'll like the Magical Creatures Protection class next year. Speaking of which, I stayed up all night last night, so I went to the Headmaster's office and chatted with Dumbledore for a bit. Want to hear some inside information?"
"Tell me about it?" Kane raised an eyebrow.
"Dumbledore went to the Ministry of Magic today to clear Hagrid's name. You know, about seventy or sixty years ago, Hagrid was framed; his pet killed Myrtle?"
Lupin had barely begun when Kane realized what he meant: "But we all know this year that the real culprit is the Basilisk, and it seems Hagrid doesn't know that yet."
Lupin nodded: "Yes, so we're going to give Hagrid a surprise!"
