Chapter 249 Sudden Changes

It was a peaceful early autumn day. Sunlight filtered through the cracks between the city's tall buildings, streaming onto the streets. Traffic rushed by, and life went on as usual. Lin Yue and Li Hao toiled at their respective jobs, and everything seemed perfectly in order. However, life's twists and turns often come without warning.

On Friday evening, Li Hao finished his workday and was about to leave the office when his phone suddenly rang. It was a company email. The subject line was short but striking: "Notice Regarding Organizational Restructuring." Li Hao clicked on the email, and the more he read, the heavier his heart felt. The last paragraph of the email clearly stated: "Due to departmental cuts, relevant employees will face separation arrangements."

"How could this happen?" Li Hao muttered to himself. His department had just completed a key project, and he thought the company would pay them more attention due to their good performance, but he didn't expect to be disbanded.

Li Hao returned home with mixed emotions. Lin Yue had already prepared dinner, with his favorite sweet and sour pork ribs and stir-fried broccoli on the table. Seeing Li Hao's expression, Lin Yue put down her chopsticks and asked with concern, "Haohao, what's wrong? You look very tired."

Li Hao sat down and was silent for a while before speaking: "Yueyue, the company is downsizing. Our department is going to be eliminated. I may have to resign."

Lin Yue was stunned for a moment, put down the dishes in her hands, and tried to comfort him in a calm tone: "Don't worry too much, this is not the end of the world. You are so capable at work, there will definitely be new opportunities."

Li Hao nodded, but his eyes revealed a deep sense of loss. He had always put his career first, and losing his job was undoubtedly a huge blow to him.

For the next few days, Li Hao stayed home from work, completing his resignation paperwork. While Lin Yue arrived at work early in the morning, Li Hao sat at his desk, browsing various recruitment websites. He submitted multiple resumes, but received no satisfactory responses.

One morning, before going out, Lin Yue reminded him: "Don't be too anxious, take some rest, adjust your state, and the opportunity will come." Li Hao forced a smile and nodded.

But as time went on, Li Hao's mood grew increasingly depressed. He began to doubt his own abilities: "Was I laid off because I wasn't good enough? What if I couldn't find another job?"

That night, Lin Yue returned home to find Li Hao sitting on the sofa in a daze, with several unopened recruitment materials on the coffee table. She knew Li Hao was going through an inner storm, but she couldn't bear to force him. She just stayed by his side silently, trying to convey her support and care through her actions.

One weekend night, Lin Yue prepared a candlelight dinner as a surprise for Li Hao. She even wore the dress he had given her.

"Haohao, don't think about work. Let's have a good meal and relax." Lin Yue said with a smile.

But Li Hao seemed a little absent-minded. He whispered, "Yueyue, I really don't feel like eating. I don't even have my next job yet, so how can I relax?"

Lin Yue was slightly startled, but still tried to comfort him: "I know you are under a lot of pressure, but you can't keep denying yourself like this! We can find a solution together, right?"

Li Hao was a little anxious: "Do you think I don't want to? But the competition in this industry is so fierce now. Every interview makes me feel useless!"

Lin Yue's heart ached, and a feeling of grievance welled up in her. "Do you think you're the only one under pressure? I'm worried about you too, but you're giving up on yourself like this, and I can't help you at all!"

The two of them were silent for a moment, the air filled with awkwardness and unease. After a while, Lin Yue stood up and went into the bedroom, closing the door. Li Hao sat at the dining table, looking at the meal Lin Yue had carefully prepared, feeling extremely guilty.

That night, Li Hao tossed and turned on the sofa. He began to think back on his past: from college to the workplace, he had always been confident, but this setback had left him momentarily lost. He realized that his depression had hurt not only himself but also Lin Yue, whom he deeply loved.

The next morning, Li Hao got up early and took the initiative to prepare breakfast for Lin Yue. He looked at Lin Yue's slightly red and swollen eyes after she got up, and said distressedly, "Yueyue, I'm sorry. It was my fault last night. I shouldn't have vented my negative emotions on you."

Lin Yue sighed softly: "I'm not blaming you, I just hope you know that no matter what happens, we can face it together."

Li Hao nodded. "Thank you, Yueyue. I won't let myself fall into the trough again. Perhaps this is an opportunity to start over."

With Lin Yue's encouragement, Li Hao began to rethink his career direction. He discovered that he had always loved the catering industry, especially healthy eating.

One night, he told Lin Yue his idea: "Yueyue, I'm thinking about opening a healthy restaurant? Focus on promoting green and environmentally friendly eating concepts."

Lin Yue's eyes flashed with surprise: "This is a great idea! I always thought you had a good business sense, and this would be a great opportunity. What do you want to do?"

The two immediately began to work out the details. From market research to site selection and budget allocation, they worked collaboratively and were incredibly busy. Lin Yue also used her design expertise to create a natural-inspired logo for the store.

The early days of starting a business were filled with unknown challenges. They had to complete every task themselves: contacting suppliers, developing the menu, and decorating the store. Sometimes, suppliers' delays forced them to stay up late to research alternatives. During the renovation process, they were also anxious when materials exceeded their budget.

Despite this, whenever they encountered a problem, they would always find a solution through communication and collaboration. Li Hao gradually discovered that Lin Yue was his best partner. She not only gave him emotional support but also substantially promoted the progress of the entire project.

A few months later, their restaurant finally opened. A long line formed outside, with many friends and neighbors coming to support them. Li Hao was sweating profusely, but a long-lost smile graced his face.

When the first customer said to him, "Your food is really healthy and delicious," he felt a sense of accomplishment. He understood that life's changes are not to be feared. As long as you have the courage to face them, you will definitely find a new direction.
