Chapter 157 Her World
Chapter 157 Her World
April 4, Vancouver, Canada, International Annual Theoretical Astrophysics and Cosmology Academic Conference.
As Professor Ferrero said, “Next, my research assistant Iseylia will present her findings on the role of Neptune in the formation of Kuiper Belt.”
Wen Song walked up to the podium, bowed to the audience, smiled and said, "Good afternoon everyone, I am Iseylia Wen from Astrophysics MSc program of LMU Munich. First of all, I highly appreciate Professor Ferrero and the International Astrophysics Society giving me this opportunity to present my findings. The theme of my today's presentation is 'How Neptune contributed to the formation of Kuiper Belt'…."
(Good afternoon, everyone. I am Iseylia Wen, a master of astrophysics at the University of Munich. First of all, I would like to thank Professor Ferrero and the International Astrophysical Union for giving me this opportunity to present my research results. The topic of my speech today is "How Neptune contributed to the formation of the Kuiper Belt")
Wen Song was standing on the podium, wearing a black silk short dress with the hem just reaching her knees, perfectly showing off her straight and slender legs without appearing naked.
The coat is a classic white YSL smoking jacket. She doesn't wear much jewelry, not even a necklace, but a pair of white pearl earrings as decoration, matched with a gold brooch, which is simple, generous and exquisite. A pair of 8.5cm high Iriza red-bottomed pointed black high heels make her figure more upright and slender.
Her PPT was very concise and to the point. Cheng Che couldn't help laughing when looking at it. If he hadn't told her, who would have known that she had finished it in 30 minutes on the flight from Munich to Vancouver yesterday?
When Wen Song gave his presentation, he did not look at the prepared speech script. He was able to accurately explain his research results based on the prompts on the PPT. He also often interacted with the audience in the front row and answered questions from other scholars, which was interesting but rigorous.
This was Wen Song that Cheng Che had never seen before, or rather, this was the real Iseylia, calm, confident, and shining in her familiar territory.
If her kindness and good looks were the reason why he fell in love with her at first sight when they first met, then her rigor, her focus and efforts to achieve the perfect goal under her casual appearance, which were the key to Cheng Che's fascination with her, were the result of their daily interactions over the past few days.
Wen Song always says that she has no dreams, but in the field she likes, once she makes up her mind, she will always go all out and strive for perfection.
There are also many scholars from China attending the conference today, including some of Grandpa Cheng Che’s colleagues.
He recognized Cheng Che and said with some surprise, "Ah Che, right? I'm your grandfather's colleague. Your grandfather and I used to live in the same residential building. I held your father in my arms when he was little."
Cheng Che also smiled, nodded slightly, and greeted: "Hello, Professor Ye, long time no see, how are you?"
Professor Ye has gray hair, but he is still energetic. He smiled and said, "Of course, otherwise I can't bring doctoral students all the way to Vancouver for a meeting. Why are you here too? I remember hearing from your grandfather that you studied architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. On the contrary, your brother said he wanted to study astrophysics in college, and he came to me every week to take physics lessons."
"I'm here with my girlfriend." Cheng Che pointed to the podium and said, "It's her. She's a graduate student at the University of Munich, Iseylia, and her Chinese name is Wen Song."
"It turned out to be this girl." Professor Ye showed an approving expression and nodded, saying, "The girl is very good. As a graduate student, she can achieve such results. She is really outstanding. Many doctoral students cannot achieve this. I remember that she was a research assistant of Professor Ferrero. Professor Ferrero is a leading figure in the study of planetary formation. It is true that a strong general has no weak soldiers under his command."
Cheng Che also said proudly: "Yes, she is very good, I am not as good as her."
"Are you feeling stressed?" Professor Ye half-jokingly said, "What's the matter? Our Che is also very good. Don't underestimate yourself. Let's improve together."
Half an hour later, Wen Song's presentation ended. She thanked him and walked down the podium. She sat next to Professor Ferrero and whispered something to her.
Cheng Che was sitting behind them and couldn't hear their conversation clearly. He only saw Professor Ferrero hugging Wen Song after she stepped off the stage and praising her loudly: "Excellent Iseylia! I'm so proud of you!"
At that moment, Cheng Che could not hide his inner disappointment. He also wanted to walk to Wen Song's side, to be the first to hug her after she finished her performance and to tell her, "I am proud of you." Instead of sitting behind her several meters away from her and acting as an audience.
After all the scholars had finished their speeches and were taking a break to wait for the dinner, Wen Song came to Cheng Che and patted him gently on the shoulder.
At that moment, she smiled sweetly, her peach blossom eyes slightly raised, and even the teardrop mole at the end of her eyes became gentle.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Wen Song was a little confused. "I just stood next to you for a long time, and you didn't even notice."
"I'm sorry." Cheng Che gently held her hand, "Sister is so charming today, I was stunned."
"When am I not charming?" Wen Song raised his chin and said proudly.
Cheng Che wanted to say that she was not charming when she cursed at people while playing games, but when he saw Wen Song's expression, he immediately hid his words and agreed with her, "Yes, sister is charming every day."
Cheng Che pulled Wen Song to Professor Ye's side and introduced, "Professor Ye, this is my girlfriend, Wen Song."
Then he said to Wen Song: "Song Song, this is Professor Ye from the Department of Physics at Zhejiang University, an old colleague of my grandfather."
Wen Song nodded immediately, shook hands with Professor Ye and said hello, "Hello, Professor Ye, I am Iseylia, currently studying for a master's degree in the Department of Astrophysics at the University of Munich."
Professor Ye also praised: "Hello, Wen, I also listened to your speech just now. It was really good. The theoretical reserve is very solid, and the final results are also very creative. Are you studying abroad at the University of Munich?"
“No, I’m Swiss myself.”
"Is that so?" Professor Ye smiled. "That's great. You and our A-Che are very compatible. A-Che is studying at a university in Switzerland."
"Yes." Cheng Che replied with a smile, "But we met in Munich. I broke my leg while skiing, and she saved me."
Professor Ye found Cheng Che's words funny but also a little scary, so he said, "So, skiing is too dangerous. Your grandfather has told me many times that he doesn't want you to continue skiing, but you didn't listen. I told you young people to have your own dreams, and we, the older generation, shouldn't interfere, but you must pay attention to safety."
Cheng Che immediately thanked Professor Ye for his kindness and said with a smile that he would definitely pay attention to it.
Wen Song was a bit socially anxious. She was more comfortable with socializing in English and German, but she always couldn't understand the complicated Chinese social terms in Chinese. She was worried that she might say something wrong, so she was particularly nervous. Her palms were slightly sweaty as she held Cheng Che's. She kept stroking his palms gently, suggesting that he was really feeling unwell and wanted to leave early.
But Cheng Che didn't seem to notice, and continued to chat and laugh with Professor Ye and his doctoral students, occasionally pulling Wen Song into their conversation.
When Wen Song was thinking of a reason to leave, she happened to see a familiar figure in the crowd. It was her good friend from undergraduate period, Eirlys. She immediately said to Cheng Che and Professor Ye, "I met a classmate from undergraduate period. I went over to say hello. I'll leave now."
Then he immediately waved to Eirlys and walked over quickly.
