"Fire! Tear them to pieces!"
Boom boom boom boom boom——!
More than a dozen submachine guns simultaneously spat fire, and a dense hail of bullets rained down on the group.
Steve roared and tackled the soldier beside him, his vibranium shield at the forefront.
Logan roared and stood in front of the group with his chest, ready to take the hit.
Only Chu Hang didn't move.
He stood quietly in the very center of the hail of bullets, raising his right hand, which was flashing blue light.
This was the thought that flashed through Steve's and Logan's minds at the same time.
The next second, a bizarre scene unfolded.
The whistling bullet, about a meter away from Chu Hang's body, suddenly drew a smooth arc.
They were not bounced off or blocked, but guided by some force, flying past the people's bodies.
Ding ding ding ding ding——!
A series of dense metallic clanging sounds echoed on the walls, ceiling, and floor of the pipes.
Every single bullet hit the wall without missing a single one.
The nearest bullet grazed Steve's ear, the heat scorching off a few strands of his blond hair.
Five seconds later, the gunfire stopped.
The Hydra soldiers on the other side, still in firing positions, were completely dumbfounded.
Are we shooting paintballs?
The veterans of the Roaring Commando were also petrified, their mouths agape enough to fit a grenade.
Hallucination? A miracle from God?
Only Steve and Logan vaguely "saw" the truth.
Steve stared intently at the air in front of Chu Hang.
He couldn't see anything with his naked eye, but his fighting instincts were screaming—the space there was distorted!
The "path" of the bullet's flight was forcibly bent.
Chu Hang exhaled a breath of white air, his face paling slightly.
Maintaining this barrier consumed one-tenth of his energy.
He understood: this [Spatial Curvature Barrier] skill consumed mana, had a small range, and could only defend against linear attacks, not grenades or close-quarters combat. It was a powerful skill in specific situations, but not invincible.
“Das... was ist das?!” (What... what is this?!)
The Hydra officer opposite him snapped out of his shock, pointed at Chu Hang, his voice trembling.
"Charge! Use bayonets! Chop them into mincemeat!"
He drew his Luger pistol and fired a shot into the air, trying to dispel his men's fear.
"For Hydra!"
A dozen Hydra soldiers, their eyes bloodshot, charged forward with bayonets at the ready.
"Well come."
Chu Hang looked at the burly man charging at the front.
He focused his mental energy intensely and locked onto the spatial coordinates of the burly man one meter in front of him.
A barely audible buzzing sound flashed by.
The charging Hydra giant seemed to have crashed into an invisible wall.
Before the burly man could even scream, he burst open like a water balloon that had been instantly flattened.
The sound of bones cracking rang out in rapid succession, and a mixture of red and white sprayed in all directions.
The soldiers behind him didn't have time to react and crashed headfirst into the pile of human-shaped mangled flesh. Then, they were pushed by the people behind them, crashing into it one after another.
Screams, rolling sounds, and the sound of piles of flesh filled the narrow pipe as it was instantly blocked by a "mountain of human flesh."
The whole process was incredibly fast.
Chu Hang simply stood still, without moving an inch.
Another 20% of its energy was drained away.
This technique, called "Spatial Fixed-Point Compression," is incredibly powerful but also consumes a lot of energy. The principle is to compress a small piece of three-dimensional space into an infinitely thin "sheet of paper," so that anything that collides with it will be crushed by its own kinetic energy.
It's a perfect match for dealing with these kinds of grunts who only know how to charge.
"The rabble has been cleared out."
Chu Hang lowered his hand, and the blue light in his palm disappeared into his body.
He turned his head and grinned at Steve and Logan, who were now petrified.
"It's your turn."
Steve and Logan were jolted awake, their suppressed fighting spirit erupting completely.
"Roar--!"
Logan roared and flew over the "mountain of flesh" like a cannonball, six white bone claws popping out in mid-air.
He plunged into the remnants of the army, his claws flashing, blood and flesh flying everywhere.
Steve is more efficient.
With a flick of his wrist, he sent the vibranium shield flying out of his hand like a three-colored meteor.
The shield didn't fly straight ahead; instead, it struck the left wall first.
With a perfect geometric rebound, the shield accelerated and flashed past the necks of the two soldiers.
The second rebound! The third! The fourth!
Every rebound precisely reaped lives.
As Logan's killing spree reached its halfway point, the shield arced through the air and flew back into Steve's hand, reeking of blood.
With a soft "clang," it returned to its place.
There was no longer a single enemy standing before them.
The battle ended in no more than thirty seconds.
The air was filled with the smell of blood and a faint odor of ozone.
The surviving commandos collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, their eyes filled with nothing but awe.
Steve slowly turned around, his blue eyes fixed on Chu Hang.
"what is that?"
His voice was calm, yet carried an undeniable questioning tone.
Chu Hang's heart skipped a beat.
He immediately pretended to be completely drained, swayed, and collapsed to the ground, panting heavily with a pale face.
“I…I don’t know either…” He shook his head with a wry smile, his voice hoarse. “It feels…like something has awakened. I call it…a biofield? Or…a high-frequency vibration barrier?”
“I can feel it, I can… subtly alter the density of the air in front of me, forming an… invisible wall.”
"Those two moves were my limit... I have no strength left now."
Chu Hang avoided mentioning "space" altogether, instead deliberately explaining it in a "scientific" direction.
Force field, vibration, air density.
These terms are at least within the comprehension of "super soldiers".
Most importantly, his apparent weakness and extreme vulnerability significantly reduced the threat level.
Sure enough, the sharp scrutiny in Steve's eyes gradually softened.
Change the air density? Vibrate the barrier?
While this explanation is absurd, it doesn't seem entirely unacceptable in a world where a Cosmic Cube exists.
"Get out of here first."
Steve stopped asking questions, stepped forward to help the "weak" Chu Hang up, and put his arm on his shoulder.
"Clear up the equipment, take the wounded, we have to leave before reinforcements arrive!"
"Yes! Captain!"
Chu Hang leaned against Steve, feeling a sense of relief.
Finally got over it.
He knew that the seeds of doubt had been sown.
But so what?
He felt the energy slowly returning to his body.
This world is becoming more and more dangerous, but also more and more interesting.
Chapter 45 Explanatory Ability
Being helped along by someone is fucking awful.
Especially when the person supporting you is the famous Captain America—Steve Rogers.
Chu Hang could clearly feel that Steve's hand, which seemed to be casually resting on his back, had never been still at all!
On several occasions, that hand used an extremely subtle and skillful force to gently press, slide, and probe the muscles in his back.
He was testing whether he was really as "weak" as he appeared!
Chu Hang mentally cursed Steve's ancestors for eighteen generations, but his acting skills instantly reached Oscar-level.
