Chapter 886 Sending Party Invitations
Chapter 886 Sending Party Invitations
Unable to contact them by phone, Peter had to send out invitations to the party at Spiderweb Base one by one. He first bought the gifts and Christmas tree, then transported them to Spiderweb Base, where he saw Amadeus and Harry, who had come to help decorate the venue out of boredom.
"Isn't your dad planning to invite you to Christmas, Harry?"
Peter was quite surprised to see Harry, and Harry, upon hearing this, looked at Peter and said, "Speaking of which, my dad asked me to ask if he can come to the Christmas party at the Spiderweb Base, although I think it would be rather strange for him to come."
Well, to be honest, Osborn is indeed a key figure in the Spider-Man franchise, but everyone seems quite unhappy about him. Peter couldn't refuse, and hesitated for a moment before speaking, but then Harry indicated that he understood: "OK, let's get it done before nine o'clock tonight, then I'll drive home to spend Christmas with my dad, and he can spend it with Osborn's employees."
"He shouldn't be sad, right?"
"It's okay. If you have time to go to his Christmas party, he won't feel sad at all."
Peter silently took out his notebook and showed Harry the Christmas invitation he had received. Harry was shocked after reading it, then looked at Peter and said, "Thanks for your hard work, bro. You can go ahead and get back to work."
"Oh, by the way, I prepared a gift for Baldy—I mean Mr. Tooms. After all, we used his equipment when we were fighting Ultron. You're giving him something? I need to go find someone."
Harry nodded. "I'll take it to him in a bit."
"I've prepared gifts for you and Norman; you can take them home with you."
"Okay, I'll put it in the car later."
Upon hearing this, Peter looked at Harry and asked, rather surprised, "Wait, you have a car?"
"It's my dad's car, but he has several. I just drove one out."
Do you have a driver's license?
"Yes, it was taken while you were busy saving the world."
After a moment of silence, Peter separated the gifts for Norman from those for the others and sent them off to Amadeus and Harry. He continued sending out invitations to the others. Since the internet was down, he had to contact everyone individually, but fortunately, he knew almost everyone's address, making the process relatively easy.
Take Felicia and Jessica, for example. Both of them live in Manhattan, and both are high-rise apartments, so they're not too hard to find. Felicia's apartment, in particular, is quite conspicuous. It's a two-story penthouse duplex in Manhattan, complete with an outdoor swimming pool.
However, when Peter arrived, he found that no one was home at Felicia's house. He began to wonder why no one was there. After a short while, he heard a sound and then saw a black cat in a uniform descending from the rooftop.
Peter asked with considerable curiosity, "What happened? Why are you going out on Christmas Day?"
"Yeah, thanks to the fact that there was almost no one in New York City yesterday, I had to come back to check if anything was missing from my house, and sure enough, I found some things were missing as soon as I got home this morning."
Felicia opened the door as she spoke, poured herself a drink at the bar, and then asked Peter, "Is there something you need?"
"Uh, oh, nothing." Peter looked around but didn't see Felicia bring anything back, so he simply explained the purpose of his visit: "We were planning a party at the Spiderweb Base, but now that the internet is down, I'm going to go and notify everyone one by one—"
Felicia nodded, then smiled slightly: "No problem, I haven't received any party invitations anyway, though I probably won't get any now. By the way, did you tell Jessica?"
"No, I plan to inform Jessica and Dr. Jonathan."
"Leave it to me, you go find someone else." After Felicia finished speaking, she asked Peter curiously, "Did you know there was a Christmas party at Cifan's Banquet today? I received the news a few days ago."
"Yes, I know. Aunt Mei will be busy over there today, which is why our family can have the Christmas dinner at nine o'clock tonight. But I really don't have much free time today."
Peter explained the situation apologetically, explaining that there were so many places to visit that he had to skip one or two. After saying goodbye to Felicia, he began to think about where else he needed to go, while swinging on his webs. First and foremost was Dr. Connors's house. After the incident with the Lizardmen and Octopus City, Dr. Jonathan, although not yet resigned from Osborn Technologies, had already received protection from S.H.I.E.L.D.
Dr. Connors, on the other hand, had much more freedom and moved from the Savage Force project to the Spiderweb base. The Savage Force project was handed over to Miles Warren the Jackal, but Miles was currently tied up in resources and couldn't do any research. Norman was essentially paying a small amount of money to keep him from going crazy.
Peter arrived near Dr. Connors's house at the address provided by Dr. Connors, then deactivated his nanosuit and went to his door to knock. Dr. Connors's house was not in Manhattan, but in upstate New York where housing prices were much cheaper.
Dr. Connors readily agreed. The time Peter had arranged wasn't too late either. After glancing at it, he nodded: "Great. I can bring my son some extra Christmas presents before dinner. See you then, Peter."
"See you then, Dr. Connors."
After saying goodbye to Connors, Peter started heading back. He began to think about whether there was anyone he needed to call, and then he thought of Lightning and Venom. However, on his way back, he returned to South Bronsk and saw the metal church again. After thinking for a moment, Peter decided to go and take a look.
He pushed open the church door. It was Christmas Day, and the church was surprisingly crowded. Vision, dressed in a priest's robe, was preaching inside. He glanced at Spider-Man as he walked in, simply smiled and nodded, then continued his sermon.
How to put it? It seems reassuring, but also a little eerie.
"In other words, Vision took over all of Ultron's followers and the religious system he left behind. That sounds really strange. Wasn't he supposed to be busy destroying Ultron's programs? How come he has time to preach here?"
Peter, who had left the church, was muttering to himself when Vision walked right through the wall and started talking to him.
"This is also about erasing Ultron's mark, Spider-Man."
