Chapter 456: Darth Sidious's Troubles
Chapter 456: Darth Sidious's Troubles
Dark Lord of the Sith.
As the current Lord of the Sith, he is the eternal enemy of the Jedi Order. The Sith Lords were re-formed and led by Darth Bane. He is the culmination of a thousand-year plan to overthrow the Republic and the Jedi Order. The end result of Darth Bane's Rule of Two, now with a current Sith Master trying to make it a reality.
Sheev Palpatine is his mask, and Darth Sidious is his true identity. It all started a few years ago when he was still a child who was curious about Sith culture. He used his own funds to purchase a series of Sith artifacts and studied them in depth for many years. This soon had a profound impact on his life, and when he met Hego Damask, he began to do business with his financier father.
After a seemingly ordinary conversation, Sheev quickly realized that he was about to become a master of the dark side and became a disciple of the wise Darth Plagueis. Since that fateful encounter, he studied under Darth Plagueis for many years, and finally gave up his real name and became the Lord of the Sith-Darth Sidious.
He learned almost everything he could from Darth Plagueis and successfully completed the Great Sith Project.
Although things might have gone the way of many of their predecessors, an opportunity arose. The master and apprentice realized that the time was coming to fulfill the goal expected by their ancestors, and this time would be realized in their current lives through some incredibly beautiful circumstances. Years of hard work finally enabled him to gain the seat of power as the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic.
His apprentice Darth Tyrannus played an important role in the Separatist Alliance, and Sidious almost controlled two important forces, the Republic and the Separatist Alliance.
All the careful planning finally paid off. The clones who had once served the Jedi now served the Republic, and without their knowledge, Darth Sidious was able to give them orders directly.
The Jedi were seen as dullards, blinded by past glory, eager to engage in a war they believed would be against the Sith.
This is good news for the Supreme Chancellor, who meets regularly with his order's old enemies and has begun to exert influence over them.
In addition, there is the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker.
He thought back to the day he and his Master had tipped the scales of the Force toward the Dark Side, and how the Force had reacted to their actions: the fabled mission of the Chosen One - the one that would ultimately defeat the Sith.
Darth Plagueis was horrified by the coming of the Chosen One, while Sidious enjoyed corrupting this being and thinking of ways to win him or her over to their side.
If they could bend the Force to their will, who was to say the Chosen One couldn't do the same?
As if by divine intervention, the Chosen Ones arrived on Coruscant's doorstep. This happened after the Trade Federation blockaded Naboo, and the Jedi Knights rescued former Queen Amidala and brought them to Tatooine, before returning to Coruscant.
Who would have thought that the Chosen One was hiding out on that backwater desert planet owned by the Hutts.
He worked hard to build a friendship with the young boy, making sure Skywalker could always find him no matter where he was. In this way, Skywalker gained absolute trust in him.
It worked. Over the course of eleven years, Sidious developed a close personal relationship with Anakin, hoping that he could be seen as a father figure to the boy.
Everything was going according to plan until they showed up. To be honest, he didn't know who had stirred up this boulder in the pool of fate, but it had obviously broken all the balance.
The Avengers showed up.
Thinking of them, Palpatine could barely keep up his disguise and fully embraced his role as Dark Lord of the Sith.
In a galaxy where war had been raging for nearly half a year, they unexpectedly came into view. In a very short period of time, they quickly became famous with their extraordinary abilities.
At first, they were only interested in Sidious's conspiracy because they appeared like an unpredictable force in the galaxy, and even the Force could not foresee their arrival.
From the beginning, he had taken a keen interest in them, as their abilities, powers, and skills would undoubtedly be valuable to anyone who mastered them.
Especially after witnessing a demonstrator named Ant-Man grow to the size of a building.
Yes, Palpatine initially took a keen interest in the Avengers.
However, as time went on...
The Avengers began to irritate him.
These little things kept accumulating, such as their frequent participation in battles, saving countless Jedi and clones, and especially innocent civilians.
But later, their behavior completely angered him.
The Jedi began to communicate with them instead of him, the Supreme Chancellor, and whenever he tried to meet with them, the Jedi always got advice and opinions from those damn Avengers.
On top of that, they set out to sabotage his plans with his destined apprentice, Anakin Skywalker.
They formed a strong friendship with the boy, and Anakin now spent even more time with the Avengers than he did with the Jedi Knights.
This clearly angered the Dark Lord.
They were now a thorn in his side, and seemed to be growing in anger and irritation, especially as their numbers seemed to be increasing all the time.
Palpatine looked out the window behind his desk, staring at the Jedi Temple in the distance with hatred and anger in his eyes. In front of him was a bustling city scene, but there was almost no sign of any construction.
The sight before him was a huge warning to him, a threat that could ruin his entire grand plan.
Ultron…
Sidious tried to control his emotions, but a few lightnings danced between his fingers. To be honest, he was glad that the veil of the dark side was still lifted. He and his late master spent a lot of time planning to help cover their actions. Until the time was right, they always kept a low profile and did not reveal their whereabouts.
Not to mention, he wasn't allowed into any of the private places where he could channel more of the Force, places that were more secluded than other Force masters' secret places, where he could be his true self for a short period of time before returning to his duties as Supreme Chancellor.
Sidious' frustration with the events of the past few months was masked by the presence of the Avengers and Ultron, but a deranged artificial intelligence dropped a destabilizing bomb on those plans.
Ultron knew almost all of his secrets, and would do anything to hide a greater secret, most of which he had revealed to the public, greatly undermining Sidious's plans.
Ultron hopes that both sides will kill each other like the Sith plan, but to an even more extreme degree - he hopes that all sentient organic life will be completely wiped out.
Now, maintaining a balance with all these issues is a Herculean task. Ultron has yet to find the only copy of the Battle Station, which is currently stored on a physical storage device and will be built once his grand plan succeeds. But for now, this plan may end up being just a far-fetched fantasy.
The situation was becoming increasingly unfavorable for Sidious.
The recent Mandalorian summit has made the Sith Lord more alert to this system, as it would be a big mistake for him to ignore a warrior culture known for its ability to rival both the Jedi and the Sith. History has proven that their ability to stand shoulder to shoulder with the strongest Force users is unquestionable.
The Republic occupation of Mandalore is weakening as the Mandalorian parties begin to seek "cooperation". With the exception of one Mandalorian faction called the Death Watch, all Mandalorian factions are now united with the Duchess of Sardin to fight Ultron. This has led the Republic Senate to prepare to lift the occupation in order to gain more trust from the Mandalorian people.
These unexpected situations and participants should not have happened.
The events of the past year have been nothing short of bizarre. The Avengers have changed the landscape, and Ultron has only added fuel to the fire. Sidious was unable to see this coming, which has frustrated him and fueled his anger.
His eyes briefly flickered to their usual sickly yellow color, filled with pure and unadulterated hatred for the Jedi Temple. He reached out and peered into a certain part of the temple as he spotted a person meditating. In front of him, there was a holotragon, which he activated, trying to get more information out of it.
Now, this man is both a huge source of interest and concern to Sidious. Not only is this man a wayward Avenger who has recently returned with his companions, but even more strangely, he has an unusually close connection to the Force. His abilities rival those of Yoda, and perhaps even surpass them.
Sidious had sensed this vision when the Avengers first appeared, a synthetic biological robot whose creation method seemed extraordinary.
However, it wasn't until he arrived on Coruscant that Sidious was immediately unnerved. The gem on his forehead, in particular, stood out like a beacon in the Force. It was so different from anything Palpatine had ever sensed, it was beyond the scope of the Force.
With the exception of a select few, the other Avengers have no connection to the Force, but Vision is another story. The stone on his forehead is different. The power it holds is limitless, brilliant, powerful, and beautiful.
The Stone is in the possession of those monkish fools and blind sheep - the Jedi Knights. If Palpatine could gain access to that object...
He took a deep breath and quickly severed his Force connection to the Jedi Temple. He had to be extra careful with this synthetic Avenger because he might reveal the veil of the dark side due to his extraordinary powers.
His eyes gradually moved downward, and his worry about the current situation began to deepen. If he could keep his distance from Vision, then Vision would not be able to remove his veil.
However, the situation was quite different for the secrets hidden under the Jedi Temple. Sidious returned to his desk, sat down, and began to think about his next plan of action.
Specifically, he needed to figure out how to solve the mystery beneath the Jedi's feet.
Speaking of Jedi, Barel Orwell was sitting at his console, thinking back on recent events.
"Insignificant." The Jedi scholar muttered to himself.
He reviewed a few more signals and messages, but wasn't happy with what he saw.
"Damn it!" he yelled in exasperation, slamming his hand down on the table he was sitting on. The scholar groaned before quickly typing something on another device.
"Oh, I never thought I would hear such a response from a scholar." said a leisurely male voice, a voice that Orville was very familiar with.
"Not now, Voss," Barel replied through gritted teeth. "I'm busy."
"We're all busy with the war these days, Orville," Quinlan Vos said, standing next to the Jedi scholar. "Don't forget that there is a war."
"I know this war inside out, Quinlan," Barel said, rolling his eyes. "No doubt everyone is well aware of what it means by now."
Jedi Master Keefar gave the scholar a questioning look, crossing his arms and letting his gaze linger over him.
"Okay, Orville. Why are you so exhausted? It might help to focus on one thing at a time," Voss suggested. "You know, multitasking takes practice."
Orville didn't answer the question directly, instead continuing to breathlessly sift through the data he'd been reviewing for the past hour. "It's a lot to process. Multitasking used to work for me, but now it's a struggle."
"So, try to do one thing at a time," Voss suggested again. "That might make you feel more relaxed."
Barel took over the topic and sighed. "I'm sorry, I may have given you a misunderstanding."
Voss." The Jedi scholar said earnestly, "I didn't mean to be so active with you. I just..."
"I understand. It's a lot to deal with. I understand." The Jedi Knight Kefar said soothingly, "This war has taken its toll on all of us."
He took a deep breath, tried to calm himself down and sort out his thoughts. Then, he focused his attention on the man next to him again.
"Vos, I need you to do something for me." He turned to the dark-haired Jedi, his eyes showing seriousness, "I need you and your team to check out some outposts." The scholar said to Vos, handing him the equipment he had been using not long ago.
"We've checked some of these outposts before," he asked. "Any questions?"
"Yes, they no longer send clear signals," the scholar replied. "We have to assume the worst," Barel said grimly.
Voss's expression turned serious. "You mean..."
"I don't want to be too direct on this issue, but we have to prepare for the worst possible scenario," Barel Orwell replied.
"That's encouraging," Voss said. "All the outposts aren't transmitting anything?"
“Not only that, but the short timeframe in which we had to do this worries me. I don’t know if there’s a legitimate pattern or a common, unique variable involved, but…”
"I understand, Barel. I'll check it out right away," Voss promised.
"Thank you." The scholar expressed his gratitude.
"I have to ask, besides these, what else do you have..." The scholar hesitated, "Some...personal projects? I hope these will not be destroyed in this war."
