Chapter 522 Mission Failed
At this time, over the Lolasayu system, reinforcements led by Plo Koon, Mace Windu, and Luminara were engaged in a fierce air battle with Ultron's defense fleet. The reinforcement fleet led by the three of them ran directly into the oncoming wave of starfighters.
"Open fire. All fleets, take evasive action now!" Plo-Kun swerved his ship away, avoiding several Ultron fighters that were literally trying to ram him. "Warthogs, strafe, we're going to get down there and provide cover.
"Roger that, General," responded the Warthog, who was the best pilot in the 104th Regiment, second only to their General.
Soon they swooped down, two dozen fighters diving toward the planet's surface.
"Wait a moment. We will reach you as soon as possible, my friends," Plo whispered to himself, using his instincts, skills, and the Force to guide his descent.
Meanwhile, the rescue team on the ground encounters a seemingly endless wave of Ultron drones, a force that keeps coming. Although they hold their ground and fight back, several prisoners sent to rescue go missing, sparking anger among some of them.
"Where are the reinforcements!? It's too hot here!" Lightning shouted loudly, kicking away a drone that flew over Ant-Man's head and using the side antenna to stabilize his position.
Captain America responded calmly: "Please be patient. I have contacted Plo Koon and they are on their way."
"Let's hope they get there before we all die," Tarkin interjected grimly.
"Your old optimism is really infuriating," the Wasp muttered indignantly, annoyed by the negativity, as she shot down several drones with her stinger.
Tarkin glanced at her, and when he heard the humming and movement of his mechanical arm, his heart tightened. He stared at the mechanical arm with wide eyes, and grabbed another drone from behind.
The Admiral was only angry at the damage the robot had done, but he knew it wasn't his own power.
At this moment, the sound of multiple thrusters and whirring suddenly sounded, and everyone looked up. They saw waves of Ultron drones flying out of the castle, aiming directly at them.
Captain America gritted his teeth and thought to himself. He was a fearless man, but that didn't mean he was stupid. He knew that if he continued like this, all the prisoners would be wiped out in an instant.
Before Captain America gave the order, Ant-Man had already taken decisive action. He used his small body to shuttle among the enemy, trying to find a breakthrough. He gently removed Lightning and Cameron from his shoulders and began to face the surging wave.
The Wasp hovered in the air, her eyes fixed on her lover. She saw Ant-Man standing resolutely between them and the group of drones, like an indestructible barrier. "Be careful!" she shouted nervously.
Ant-Man didn't look back, but his body suddenly expanded and stood there like a huge iron wall.
Just as the robot was about to collide with them and prepare to fire at Ant-Man's back, hundreds of rays of light shot from the sky and the sides, which were blaster shots.
Everyone on the ground turned their heads to see dozens of Republic starfighters streaking across the sky like lightning.
"Reinforcements have arrived." Plo's voice spread across the battlefield through the radio.
The squadron of starfighters above was attacking the drones, and they were soon joined by another squad.
"Alright, go, go, go," Captain America yelled over the commotion. "Scott, Hope, get those gunships to full size."
"We're doing it, Captain."
"Everyone aboard!" Commander Bligh ordered.
"Cover them!" Master Peel shouted.
"Keep the drone away!"
The gunboat was quickly filled, but there were still a lot of people.
"We need more ships!" Barris shouted, still clinging to Aubrey and the coils.
"We don't have enough gunboats!" said Ella.
"Yes." A familiar voice came from the communication.
A faint light emerged from under the platform, followed by multiple blaster shots that shot down dozens of drones. A moment later, a spaceship landed steadily.
"Master." Ella said with relief.
“Impeccable timing, Quinlan,” Pierre said with a smile, watching the ship land on the platform.
The ship quickly opened and the remaining prisoners quickly boarded. Delta Team rushed out to provide cover.
"Evacuate." Bligh shouted loudly, quickly signaling the remaining combatants to board the LAAT gunship. Jedi Master Evan Pier, who was fighting fiercely with another drone, also heard the call of the 327th captain and rushed to the ship quickly.
As Pierre rushed towards the ship, a shadow suddenly enveloped him. A metal hand stretched out from behind, grabbed him in an instant, snatched his lightsaber, and easily lifted it into the air.
"You're not going anywhere." A vicious and familiar voice sounded in his ears.
The others heard this and looked back to see in horror that Jedi Master Evan Pier was trapped by an Ultron drone.
"Master Pierre!" Barris exclaimed, his eyes full of worry.
"Let him go!" Ella screamed for help, but it was all in vain. At this time, more drones appeared like ghosts and landed on the teams that were launching a vicious counterattack against them.
Evan Peel struggled, trying to break free, but the metal restraints of the Ultron drone held him tightly like an iron hoop.
"It's no real loss to me that almost all of you left here." Ultron's voice was cold and mechanical. "Even those prisoners, they will return to me in some way in the future."
Peel responded defiantly: "That will never happen—"
However, Ultron interrupted him. "Oh my God, can you use your stupid tone to ensure that this will never happen again? It has already happened. Do you really think that this is the only place I have as a base?"
Peel was stunned by the words, staring in disbelief and horror at the drone that turned his neck.
The drone raised his lightsaber and the metal tentacles quickly retrieved the kyber crystal and broke it off.
"Now, let me show you my experiment."
A distinctive Kyber crystal popped out, its pulsating veins glowing a bluish-silver light.
The Force reverberated through Pierre's senses, and he immediately struggled with all his might to break free. However, no matter how hard he tried, the force could not be broken free.
The corrupted Kyber crystal pierced his chest mercilessly like a cold blade, and its effect was instantly apparent.
Evan Peel gasped for his last breath, and his body began to twitch violently. His body seemed to be corroded by a substance that looked like liquid metal, which spread outward from his chest and gradually covered his entire body. His blood vessels became clearly visible under his flesh, and the original natural color gradually changed to silver-black, as if corroded by some dark force.
Evan Peel coughed up blood in pain, and bright red blood oozed from his nose, ears, and eyes. On his scarred face, his once deep eyes were now open, revealing a scarlet light.
The Jedi Master let out a final scream of pain, sending chills down the spines of everyone present. The scream drew everyone's attention, and their previously scattered attention was now focused here.
For those who have a special sense of the Force, they feel an unprecedented filth and distortion. Ultron's will is changing everything around him in an unnatural way.
Barris covered her ears and felt a buzzing sound in her ears. She could only watch in horror at what was happening in front of her. She wanted to take action, but facing everything in front of her, fear and shock made her unable to move.
After a moment, everything returned to calm. Pierre's body temporarily slumped under the control of the drone. However, he suddenly stood up, his scarlet eyes fixed on the Ultron drone.
"Lord Ultron, I am ready to serve you," he began.
"Ah! Perfect!" Ultron looked at his newly transformed slave with satisfaction.
Ultron's drone flew past his newest slave. Although it had no facial expression, the Jedi, clones, and Avengers could all sense its satisfaction at the display. "This was an interesting experiment," Ultron said happily. "See you next time."
Then, Pierre, who had turned into a puppet, flew away from everyone's sight at an astonishing speed, followed by a group of ruthless drones.
The rescue team could only watch it all.
They had managed to rescue all the other prisoners, but Peel...his fate was crueler than death itself.
"Let's get out of here," Captain America whispered, his voice filled with sorrow.
