Chapter 527: Ella Secura's Confusion
Elsewhere, Aayla Secura, a Twi'lek Jedi Knight, sat alone under one of the many trees in the Jedi Temple gardens, chanting: I am one with the Force, the Force is one with me, I am one with the Force, the Force is one with me…
She had always frequented here when she was a young Padawan, under the tutelage of her masters, Torm and Vos, and since becoming a Jedi Knight, it had become a haven for her to quiet her mind and collect her thoughts.
However, today's tranquility was broken by a hint of chaos. She found herself in confusion and trouble, as if something was stirring up a storm in her heart.
Ever since the incident at the castle, she had always felt something was wrong. It wasn't because of the horrific scene she had witnessed in that gloomy prison, although that scene often appeared in her mind, making her feel deeply uneasy about what Ultron had done. But the current confusion did not come from that.
Rather, it was after a brief exchange with Captain America after the castle incident. Whenever she thought of that brief interaction, her heart would beat faster involuntarily.
She clenched her teeth and quickly shook her head to dispel the thought.
"The Force is with me. I am one with the Force, and the Force is—"
"is it?"
Suddenly, a familiar voice came, interrupting her meditation. The voice was a little teasing.
She looked up and saw her former master Quinlan Voss standing beside her, leaning against the tree in front of her. Not only him, but Master Torm and Master Terrasa also appeared in her sight.
“So…” Quinlan Voss said gently, “what happened?”
“When you are meditating, you should not be distracted, and you should not be interrupted.”
“Haha. Did you hear a hint of sarcasm in my tone?” Quinlan Voss said in a mean tone.
Torm came and sat in front of Ella, with Terrasa sitting on her other side.
"What's troubling you, dear Aayla?" The voice of Neti Jedi Master Terra Sa was gentle and kind.
Facing Master Sa's concern and questioning, Ella took a deep breath, trying to calm the chaos in her heart. She whispered, "I... I don't know how to say it. I just... I'm very conflicted now, Master Sa."
Quinlan Voss asked, "Is it about the castle incident?"
Ella didn't respond at first, she closed her eyes and tried to sort out her chaotic thoughts.
Aayla slowly opened her eyes, and faced the Jedi Master who cared about her, with a deep pain in her eyes. "That was part of it," she admitted, "but what bothers me more is what happened afterwards."
Torm repeated the question. “What happened next?” He rubbed his chin. “Quinlan has already told me about your experiences on that mission, but I want to know what you discovered.”
A look of sorrow flashed in Aayla's eyes, "Yes, what happened there was truly horrific. Even the Force itself hates it. If there was a way to erase my memory of what I saw there, I would choose it without hesitation."
At this moment, Quinlan Voss sighed, walked up to her and gently held her hand, while Terra Sa placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a concerned look.
"But the castle is not the real source of your troubles at the moment." Terra Sa said softly, "What you mentioned before..."
Ella took a deep breath, paused for a moment, and then continued, "Yes, something happened... or something that almost happened when we came back."
Torm and Terra Sa looked at each other with confusion on their faces, so they turned their attention to Quinlan Voss, who also participated in the castle rescue operation, hoping to get some clues from him. However, Voss just shrugged slightly, indicating that he didn't know either.
Quinlan couldn't help but roll his eyes, "So, what exactly is this thing that happened that I don't know about?"
Facing Quinlan's questioning, Ella fell silent again. She bit her lip, as if trying to organize her words. Seeing her hesitation, Terra Sa decided to help her untie this knot, so she said: "Only when you open your heart and speak out your confusion, can we help you."
The three of them looked at Ella quietly. She seemed to be experiencing an intense inner battle. Then her cheeks quickly turned red, and she looked extremely flustered.
Ella seemed to have sensed the strange atmosphere around her and covered her face with her hands, a move that confused her mentors.
She whispered to herself, every word seemed to be suppressed in her throat: "If...something really happened..."
"What?" Torm leaned forward, trying to hear her whisper.
Ella muttered something again, but the others still couldn't hear what she said.
However, Voss caught a name in her words, and after a moment's thought, he gave a slightly obscene smile.
"What did you just say, my dear Ella?" Quinlan Voss approached her with a hint of joking. "Why did I hear you just mention a young man named Steve Rogers, right?"
Terra Sa and Torm both showed surprised expressions, the latter smiled exactly the same as Voss, while the former maintained a gentle smile.
Aila now only wanted to return to her own residence, curl up in bed, and escape from it all. However, Master Sa patted her shoulder gently: "I understand. In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a Jedi Knight, there are some things that are troubling your mind."
"I think that guy is really good," Voss joked. "To be honest, I think there will be a lot of ladies who like him and may have already extended an olive branch to him."
"Voss." Torm hurriedly stopped Quinlan Voss, who was talking more and more nonsense.
"You're grown up now and can make your own decisions, right?" Terra Sa said patiently, "So, in many ways, he's more than just a friend, and that's normal."
"Master Tha, I really don't know how I feel about him," Ayla sighed. Her voice was filled with confusion and bewilderment. "But, Master, I have always believed that a Jedi Knight should not have attachments."
Torm just shook his head and said, "Attachment doesn't lead to falling to the dark side, fear of loss does."
After so many years, Ella once again experienced the same confusion as a young apprentice. Her heart was like a surging ocean at this moment. "I don't understand. Aren't we taught to avoid excessive attachment to anything?"
"Aayla," Terra Sa said in an expectant voice, "Have you forgotten our teachings? What did we teach you? To cherish those around you while you have the power, and to be grateful when they return to the embrace of the Force."
Ella's heart tightened, her thoughts seemed to be touched by these words, "You mean they will eventually die?"
Torm shook his head, his eyes revealing deep wisdom. "Death is an integral part of life. Problems only arise when you are swallowed by the shadow of death and dominated by it."
Ella fell into deep thought. "Steve doesn't belong to the Force. If... he dies..."
Ella's voice seemed to tremble. She had never thought of such a possibility, nor did she dare to think about what would happen to her if such a thing happened.
She shook her head hard, trying to get the thought out of her mind.
Terra Sa used the Force to gently let the leaves around her float in the air. She explained: "Even if he is not in the embrace of the Force, he is still a part of life and an indispensable element of the universe. Death is an end, but also a new beginning."
Quinlan Voss, now serious, said, "It's important to appreciate what you have now. You can't let fear and hesitation hold you back. This is not the Ella we knew, not the girl we raised."
Aayla was speechless for a moment. She felt unprecedented confusion and bewilderment. This was very different from the teachings of the Jedi Masters and mentors she had known. They advocated not being attached to any rules.
But everything changed when he met Captain America. That man was different - strong, determined, unyielding, with a strong moral code. He always rushed to danger and those in need.
He was an admirable man, and many in the Clone Army and the Jedi Order thought highly of him.
He led by example and became good friends with the reckless Anakin Skywalker.
Ella took a deep breath, a mixture of emotions surging in her heart. She began to re-examine her understanding of dependence, fear, loss, and the true meaning of life.
Frankly speaking, everyone in the Avengers has their own persistence and stubbornness, but Ella has a special feeling for Captain America. She deeply feels the trust and respect that she and Captain America have established during the war. When fighting side by side, they rely on each other.
However, the deeper connection between them was established in those quiet moments. There were no life-or-death decisions, no fierce battles, just the two of them, talking and sharing quietly. Sharing each other's stories, feelings, and even those secrets hidden deep in their hearts.
Finally, Ella sighed deeply and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Thorm asked.
Ella responded, "Maybe I made a bad decision. Or maybe I wanted to see if I could… I left."
