Chapter 529 Let’s have a baby
In the Avengers' studio, Ant-Man and the Wasp are checking almost everyone's armor and performing maintenance and upkeep.
Ant-Man said with a surprised tone, "I can't believe Thor brought vibranium."
The Wasp feels similarly.
Apparently, Princess Shuri asks Thor to bring some vibranium for the Avengers in space, and she also asks Thor to deliver a message to his brother, T'Challa, saying that she is now an Avenger as well, ready to contribute her strength to the team at any time, whether on Earth or in space.
Ant-Man and the Wasp are currently applying vibranium lining to Falcon's wings to make them more durable, flexible, and strong. They've already made initial applications to Captain America's suit and Black Widow's gear. War Machine's suit will follow shortly after, as it's slightly more complex to construct, and the rest of the team will follow in turn.
Although the task is heavy and complicated, they do not feel tired or frustrated. They know that every effort to transform is for a better future.
But that's not all The Wasp Van Dyne has in mind.
She worked silently to meticulously apply vibranium to the right wing of the Falcon armor, while Ant-Man covered the left wing. In between her busy work, her eyes always drifted to her boyfriend inadvertently, hoping that he would notice her gaze, but it always seemed to be of no avail.
So she decided to take a more direct approach.
"Honey," she said briskly, breaking the silence in the workroom. "I've been thinking a lot lately."
"Hmm? About what?" he asked, without looking up.
"About having children," the Wasp said softly.
Hearing this, the tool in Ant-Man's hand slipped from his fingers, and he almost choked on his own saliva. His eyes suddenly raised with a hint of surprise.
"What...what do you mean?" he stammered.
The Wasp crossed her arms and looked him in the eyes, somewhat unhappy with Ant-Man's reaction, "I was wondering if we could consider having a child."
Ant-Man was speechless for a moment, his thoughts a little confused, "Why... why is this happening?"
The Wasp shrugged slightly and gave a vague answer, "Perhaps, it was influenced by Natasha and Wanda."
Ant-Man's eyes flashed with confusion, "Merlin and Elena?"
"Yes." Wasp simply put down the tools in her hands and began to walk around the table scattered with Falcon armor. "Since we came here and saw Natasha and Wanda had their own children, I started thinking about this question, thinking about you and Cassie (Ant-Man's daughter)... Until now, I never really thought about it, but... It wasn't until recently that I really realized it."
Ant-Man stared at the Wasp, unsure of what to say for a moment, "Are you... I mean, I don't want to ask the wrong question here, but... are you sure?"
The Wasp didn't answer directly, but just said softly: "It doesn't have to be done right now, but hopefully one day it will happen." She walked to Ant-Man and held his hand. "I mean, it's our child, you're so good and outstanding, and Cassie is with you, and you take good care of her, so it doesn't sound like a bad thing."
Ant-Man was pleased with his girlfriend's praise, and he said hypocritically: "I could have done more and better for Cassie--"
However, the Wasp retorted like a blazing flame, her arms wrapped around his shoulders and a hand caressing the back of his head. "She still sees you as a hero, which surely means something, doesn't it?"
Ant-Man also hugged the Wasp, and that pensive expression seemed to make him travel through time and space, going back to the years since he had a daughter.
"I just... never thought about having a child after all this time. Casey was all I had after my divorce. Then you and Hank came into my life, then the Avengers, and now Galaxy. I don't know if I'm worthy enough... Are you really sure you want to have a child with me?" His voice was filled with uncertainty and doubt.
The Wasp's eyes flashed with determination. She said softly, "You are better than you think, Scott Lang. In my heart, you have already surpassed any of my expectations." She moved her hand to his cheek and kissed it gently. "Your existence has allowed me to see a different future."
Ant-Man smiled back in gratitude, deep warmth in his eyes.
"But I don't want to fail at another critical moment in my life. Whether it's marriage or children."
The Wasp replied lightheartedly: "We don't have to get married just to have kids. There is a kind of relationship called partnership."
He retorted: "But I am very traditional, and I want to make sure I am always by your side, no matter what challenges the future holds, even if we have a child like Meng Ququ."
The Wasp couldn't help but laugh after hearing this, "Mengququ?"
"Yes, that doll. Cathy has a special liking for it," he explained humorously.
The Wasp couldn't help but laugh and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. "You said it very well."
Ant-Man smiled brightly in return, then said a little nervously, "Hank would probably kill me if he knew."
The Wasp frowned and responded softly, "Maybe?"
Ant-Man responded with a helpless eye roll: "Well, I guess it will."
His girlfriend imagined that scene and chuckled, "Well, he might think so at first. But when he sees his grandson, I'm sure he'll put that thought out of his mind immediately."
Ant-Man nodded, and they hugged each other. In this quiet moment, they were immersed in their love, as if the whole world only had the two of them.
Ant-Man still felt a little uneasy, and asked again softly: "Are you sure?"
The Wasp shrugged lightly, revealing a calm confidence in her movements. "Unless you make some extremely stupid decision and destroy the relationship between us."
Ant-Man immediately shook his head. "No, I won't be like Sam and Peter. But then again, having a baby in a galaxy far away from Earth is exciting just to think about."
The Wasp smiled slightly, and she suddenly hugged Ant-Man in her arms. Their world seemed to stop turning, and all the troubles and doubts were temporarily forgotten in this warm hug.
"Well, next, we'd better work together, right?"
The Wasp's words blended into the passionate kiss between the two.
