Chapter 536: Fragment 2: Sith - Dooku, Sidious

As the Jedi, Avengers, and Clones celebrated the destruction of Ultron, their celebration was interrupted by the arrival of three Separatist ships.

The Jedi Knights watched the spaceships slowly descend with vigilance, only to see the middle spaceship open its gangway, allowing the leader of the Alliance of Independent Systems to appear in everyone's sight.

They watched as Count Dooku walked off the ship, ignoring all of them. He walked over to where Ultron's body lay, took a good look, and then turned to the Avengers.

"Did it succeed?" Count Dooku asked patiently.

"You don't get any credit, if that's what you're asking," said Doctor Strange.

Dooku ignored it and focused his attention on Captain America.

"Did it succeed?" Count Dooku asked again.

The two looked at each other for a few seconds, and Captain America nodded slowly and said, "Yes, it's all over."

Count Dooku took a sharp breath and let it out, seeming to relax at the words.

"Good. That's good."

"Oh? Is this the compliment I heard from the Count?" Anakin deadpanned.

"Anakin, haven't you learned to be humble in front of the Count?" Obi-Wan joked, and the two of them smiled similarly.

"What do you want, Count Dooku?" Luminara asked calmly, stopping the idle teasing.

"Now?" Dooku stared at all of them, his eyes lingering on the Avengers for a moment, "I believe it is time for the galaxy to recuperate and recover in order to figure out what we are going to do next."

"Are you going to continue the war?" Captain America stood in front of Count Dooku and stared at him coldly.

There was a sense of tension in the air, and everyone was waiting for Count Dooku's response.

However, Count Dooku made an ambiguous statement: "Some may wish to continue the war, while others may wish for peace."

"What exactly is your position?" Thor asked, "Putting aside the political factors, what do you want?"

Count Dooku was silent for a long time, said nothing, and turned and left.

Finally, he stopped in front of the spaceship. He turned his head and maintained an indiscernible calm expression. "I also want to know what I want." He said lightly, "Maybe I will find it soon, maybe I will find out what I want after a while. But when the time is right, I will give you an answer."

And just like that, Dooku left Chiss space.

……

Far away in Serenno, a dark side summit is underway.

"With the defeat of Ultron, our plan must continue to move forward." Sidious' voice was low and firm.

Dooku chose to remain silent.

"If we want to overthrow the rule of the Jedi Knights and the Republic, we must re-examine Darth Bane's grand blueprint and find a new way out," Sidious continued.

"I agree with your point of view, but the existence of the Avengers greatly affects any of our plans. Even if they get in touch with their home planet, I don't think they will all return home. Their influence and reputation in the galaxy have become too dazzling. Many people see them as heroes who defeated Ultron rather than Jedi or Separatists. Including almost the entire CIS." Dooku expressed his concerns frankly.

At this moment, Darth Sidious fell into deep thought.

Dooku continued, "What's more worrying is that many clones were sacrificed in the Battle of Ultron. As more clones were produced by the Republic, the effect of Order 66 was no longer as effective as we expected."

"Clones are no longer our best option," Sidious said. "Even if the biochips in their brains can control them temporarily, it will only cause more problems in the long run."

Dooku couldn't help but frowned, "Then what should we do, Master?"

Sidious thought for a moment and said, "We need to re-formulate our plans. Those members of the Avengers, they destroyed our years of hard work in just one year. They may look powerful, but they don't realize the damage they have caused."

"Master?"

"Continue your training and research, my apprentice," Sidious commanded, "I will tell you what to do in due time."

As the communication was interrupted, Dooku was immersed in his own thoughts, his brows furrowed, revealing deep anger and confusion.

He was about to turn around and leave, but stopped when he reached the door.

Dooku stood at the door for a moment, his eyes narrowed, as if he was searching for something. He tilted his head slightly, feeling the unusual force fluctuations behind him.

The Force...it's flowing around, a powerful presence...

This feeling...why is it so familiar and intimate?

"You can do better." A voice came.

Dooku turned quickly, raised his arm, and the lightsaber in his hand ignited instantly. He looked around vigilantly, looking for the source of the sound in this empty room. There were no pillars or any place to hide, but that existence was beside him, in this house.

He could feel it, but couldn't place it exactly. His eyes searched, his mind a mess, trying to find the answer.

Is this an illusion of the Force?

Or is it some kind of invisibility trick?

He took a step forward and slowly turned, his lightsaber raised high, pointing at every corner of the room.

"Where are you hiding?" Dooku's voice was filled with danger. "Come out on your own."

However, there was a hint of teasing in the mysterious voice, "Don't be nervous, my friend, I have no hostility towards you."

This voice...why does it sound so familiar? That voice...no...this is impossible.

Dooku shook his head again, trying to concentrate on finding the exact location of this presence. He raised his lightsaber, trying to force out the owner of the hidden voice.

"If you want to joke with me, you will have to pay the price," the count said in a calm tone, "You are playing a game that will only lead to your own death."

However, all that came in response from Count Dooku was a chuckle.

"If you think so, then I can't help it, my master." The voice came from beside the count, and the spinning lightsaber in his hand turned quickly. However, the scene in front of him suddenly froze, causing him to stop attacking.

Count Dooku stared at the phantom, as if fixed by some force, his lightsaber slipped from his fingertips and fell to the ground silently. The "soul" in front of him gave him a warm and familiar smile.

"Master, I am glad to see that you are still in good health."

Count Dooku wanted to say something, but his throat seemed to be blocked by something. He tried to make a sound, but only the name echoed in his mind - "Qui-Gon".

The Jedi spirit of his student appeared before him, smiling brighter than ever, a smile Dooku had not seen since he saw Qui-Gon Jinn so many years ago.

"It's so good to see you again, Master. I wish it was under better circumstances, but it's a rare gift to see you whenever I can. It's been a while since we've seen each other, hasn't it?"

Dooku's mouth dropped open slightly, his chest as if struck by a sledgehammer, and he just stared at his former student.

"Is this true...?" Count Dooku spoke again, as if trying to confirm that all this was not an illusion.

Sensing the other party's confusion, Qui-Gon Jinn smiled and nodded. "It's me, Master. This is not an illusion, but a true manifestation of the Force."

"What's going on?" Count Dooku blurted out, his voice filled with uncontrollable surprise.

"This is an ancient secret of the Jedi Order," Qui-Gon explained. "Now, it is a secret known only to a few. It was once common knowledge, but over time, this knowledge was lost. Under the fluctuations of the Force - guided by some unknown force - I am able to manifest more easily."

Dooku continued to stare at him, then he threw his head back and began to laugh heartily.

He didn't know how it happened, but why did he feel so happy? The answer was simple, because he saw the students he had missed for so long.

Dooku slowly turned his head and looked at Qui-Gon, "What do you want from me?"

"My Master, there are many things I want to discuss with you, and most importantly, I want to see you again."

Count Dooku felt mixed emotions, and at this moment he was like an old widower in his twilight years.

"Master, how long has it been since you laughed like this?"

Qui-Gon's words seemed to strike him to the heart, causing Count Dooku's body to tremble slightly, and when he saw his former student, a weight seemed to be lifted from his heart, but it was replaced by another heavy emotion - one that reflected his more turbulent and contradictory experiences in the past ten years.

When Count Dooku looked up again, Qui-Gon Jinn had disappeared.

Looking around the empty room, Count Dooku muttered to himself: "Too long, too long..."

His voice was filled with deep exhaustion.
