Chapter 538 Anakin Skywalker & Padmé Amidala
At the Avengers' bash, Padmé stood with Anakin, Rex and her girlfriend Dahlia, Hawkeye and his wife Barbara, and Black Widow.
Everywhere was packed with people, everyone was socializing, interacting, drinking, laughing, and having a great time.
At one end of the hall was a pool table surrounded by clones, Jedi, and Avengers, all complaining about Plo Koon, who had just finished ravaging the Iron Fist.
"What the hell is going on with him—is he cheating!" Iron Fist muttered.
"No, he didn't cheat," said Obi-Wan Kenobi.
"I don't know why." An ARC soldier frowned and said, "No one can defeat him."
"He's been undefeated ever since the Avengers came up with this pool game," Clone Five complained.
Although Plough didn't show it, everyone around him could sense that he was very proud of himself.
"You're the best, Plo!" Ahsoka said happily.
"They are so happy," Padmé said. "Is it true that Master Plo has never lost a game of pool?"
"Yes," Anakin and Rex complained at the same time, and even Black Widow let out a sigh.
"That guy is so talented." Black Widow said, shaking her head after a moment.
Dahlia watched the pool game with gusto, then turned to her fellow Jedi and Naboo's Senator. She took a moment to make sure there weren't any other Jedi nearby, leaning forward curiously.
"Hey, General, I know I may be overstepping my bounds a bit, but," she stared at Padme, "you and the Senator are...?"
Padmé's eyes widened, while Anakin looked surprised, but after a moment he became thoughtful.
"Delia." Rex said with a slight frown.
"Wait, Rex, you know what?" Black Widow said in surprise, causing the Clone Captain's girlfriend to look at him with a similar reaction.
"I just told him," Anakin told them. "When I asked him to come here, I told him about Padmé and me."
"This is a surprise to me. When the general told me, to be honest, I was really surprised," Rex said. "But then again, general, this is something to be happy about."
"Rex, there's no need to say that." Anakin said with a smile. "We are friends, here to have fun."
Hawkeye's wife Barbara stared at Anakin, not understanding what was going on.
"I'm curious, why is it so secretive to love each other?" she asked. "You both acted a little strange when it came to your marriage to Padmé. Is there anything wrong with that?"
"I guess so." Anakin replied helplessly, "Take Padme and my marriage for example. This is forbidden in the Jedi Code, especially the relationship between me and my wife. So we have kept this secret."
"Why can we talk about this now?" Hawkeye's wife continued to ask.
"I only told a few of you." Anakin said, "Before you and Barton came, the other Avengers here guessed it themselves."
Black Widow shrugged in agreement.
"But now, a few people I trust know about it, including Ahsoka, Rex, and now Dahlia," the Jedi Knight said, smiling at the captain of the 501st Legion.
"Put your marriage first, right?" Hawkeye said thoughtfully, "I can relate to that."
Anakin gave him a questioning look.
"Wait, how did you two get married?" Barbara continued to ask.
Padme recalled with a sweet smile: "It was a bit rushed. Only 3P0 and R2 were our witnesses. At that time, the war had already begun, but it had only entered a short ceasefire period. We knew that after this ceasefire period, everyone would be ready for war. That period of time was our only chance to get married."
Barbara imagined the situation and several thoughts flashed through her mind.
"Well... now that you mention it," she said slowly, considering every word. "Have you ever thought about having a proper wedding given the circumstances?"
This caused a surprised look on the faces of the married couple Anakin and Padmé, who turned their gazes towards Barbara.
"A proper wedding?" Anakin and Padmé said in unison.
"Yes, now is the right time," Hawkeye interjected, understanding his wife's suggestion. "There are guests, witnesses, and a joyous gathering."
Padmé had a thoughtful look on her face and turned to her husband, who seemed to be considering the idea as well.
"I never thought about it, but—"
"Go ahead," a female voice came and they all turned to see Celeste Moon walking towards them.
"I'm sorry to have overheard your conversation, but like I said, do what you want to do." said the Jedi Shadow. "Now that you have been to Tython, it is only a matter of time before you discover some of the ancient rules of the Jedi Order. It is allowed for Jedi Knights to marry each other within the Jedi Order, and for Jedi Knights to marry people outside the Order."
This immediately caused a strong reaction from Padmé and Anakin. The couple knew that what Celeste Moon said was true and there was no need for her to lie to them. If that were the case, then their marriage would no longer have to be hidden. At the thought of this possibility, the two immediately hugged each other excitedly.
Black Widow said to Celeste Moon: "It seems that your Jedi Order once valued marriage."
