Chapter 10 A Visit
Chapter 10 A Visit
"Mr. Lynn, I think we can talk."
William Gallagher sat opposite Lynn, looking somewhat somber.
"I don't understand why you're so aggressive in coming to annul the engagement. I remember that I had a very amicable conversation with Mr. Anthony."
Lynn said coldly, "My sister cannot marry a ladybug with venereal disease. Besides, the news has spread throughout the village, and the honor of the Wilson family does not allow me to accept this marriage."
Mr. Gallagher, I'm here today simply to inform you, so you don't end up wasting your time on the wedding day. I hope you won't appreciate my good intentions.
William Gallagher's face turned ashen.
Despite his high position, he had never suffered such humiliation except in front of nobles.
But Lynn was a superhuman, and although his family was wealthy, they didn't have a single superhuman.
William Gallagher managed a smile and spoke softly:
"Mr. Lynn, rest assured, I will definitely cure my son's illness, and I will also shut up those damned rumor-mongers."
Therefore, I still hope that you will consider this marriage.
My son Thomas is an exceptionally talented young man. His trial results were outstanding, and he has already been recognized by the Church. He will soon become a prospective knight of Lord Nareel, and he is the most promising genius among this generation of young people to become a transcendent being!
So I think our two families are a perfect match!
Look, you're a superhuman, and my son might be one too. We can arrange marriages between his descendants and yours, and together we can build a stable superhuman family. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
So I think we shouldn't rush things. Let's wait until Thomas drinks the blood of God before deciding on the marriage, okay?
Lynn just stared at him coldly and took out two slightly yellowed papers from her pocket.
This was a contract that Lynn had already written.
"Mr. Gallagher, there's no need for further words. For the sake of your family and your business, sign it."
William's large, bearded face flushed red with anger. He gritted his teeth and said, "Mr. Lynn, are you really going to be so unreasonable? Are you really going to completely break ties with Gallagher?! Aren't you afraid my son will also become a superhuman?!"
Lynn stared coldly into William's angry eyes and said in a deep voice:
"Gallach, remember this: no matter who is right or wrong in this matter, and no matter what happens in the future, I, Lynn, will never let my family suffer any injustice."
"If you want war, then come on, I'll be waiting for you. But today you must sign this contract, it's not up to you!"
After saying that, Lynn slammed his hand on the table and stood up, turning to the side with one hand on the hilt of his sword, his brows furrowed as he looked down at William Gallagher in the chair.
William Gallagher was so angry that he was trembling.
He took a deep breath and gritted his teeth, saying, "Fine, it's just a marriage, we agree to dissolve the engagement!"
With trembling hands, William signed the two contracts and handed one to Lynn.
He reached out his hand and forced a smile with his face, which had turned a deep purplish-red.
"Lynn, although we can no longer be in-laws, we can still cooperate in the future. I hope this farce won't affect our relationship."
Lynn was somewhat surprised by William Gallagher's reaction.
Lynn took the contract and shook hands with him briefly.
"I think that's for the best. Now that the matter is settled, I won't bother you any longer, sir."
Lynn turned and left decisively, and William Gallagher did not see him off.
He clenched his fists and stood upstairs, quietly watching Lynn leave the manor.
Only after Lynn's figure completely disappeared on the horizon did he roar in fury and sweep everything on the table to the ground.
"Bastard! That damned bastard, that ill-mannered bastard, that son of a bitch!"
"Thomas! Where's Thomas?! Bring Thomas here!"
William's erratic behavior startled the old butler.
He immediately called Thomas, who was engrossed in playing with the maid in the room.
Thomas was in the middle of a great time and was naturally annoyed by being interrupted.
But when he saw his father's face, which was as black as the bottom of a pot, he immediately wilted.
"Father, I haven't caused any trouble lately, what's wrong with you now?"
William was even angrier when he saw Thomas's disheveled appearance.
"You, you bastard! Thomas, you'd better drink the blood of God right now! I need a result as soon as possible, no matter what!"
Thomas was stunned.
"Father, didn't you say I should drink the wine after my wedding to bring good luck? Why are you in such a hurry all of a sudden?"
William slammed his fist on the table, roaring, "What kind of celebration is this! This is utter humiliation! That bitch's brother is a superhuman; he just forced your father to sign a contract to renounce the engagement! What an insult! The Gallagher family will never allow this to happen!"
Thomas was a little intimidated by his father's actions and weakly comforted him, "Didn't we agree to break up after the wedding? Since we can't get married now, why not just not get married? Why take it out on me? I heard that drinking the blood of the gods is quite painful..."
"you!"
William was so enraged by his unfilial son that his vision blurred, his body swayed, and he leaned back, collapsing into his chair.
The old butler, watching anxiously, quickly advised, "Young master, please say less! Why don't you just agree to the master's request?"
Thomas was somewhat reluctant.
"I never wanted to drink any divine blood in the first place. I only reluctantly agreed because you said you'd find me a virgin to play with."
But who would have thought that you would find me some country bumpkin from who-knows-where, and even ask me to marry her, saying it was some kind of "good luck" marriage.
I finally managed to get you to agree that I would divorce her after the wedding ceremony, but who would have thought that things would turn out like this now.
Well, now even village girls can't be played with anymore.
I said, "You can't always expect me to sacrifice for this family!"
Seeing that her master was about to be so angry that he died.
The old butler's face was covered in sweat.
He suddenly remembered something, and took a portrait from outside, pointing it at Thomas.
"Young master, look! This is the girl you're going to marry. She's no country bumpkin. If you don't drink the blood of the god soon, this marriage will truly be ruined!"
Thomas hadn't cared at all, but when he saw Tina in the portrait, his eyes widened.
He swallowed hard, somewhat annoyed.
"Damn it, why didn't you show me the portrait sooner! If I had known my wife was this beautiful, why would I be wasting my breath talking to you guys? I would have gone to drink that damn divine blood by now!!"
The old butler was somewhat embarrassed: "Young master, this is all thanks to the master's good intentions. The master knows that if you had seen the portrait beforehand, you probably would have ruined him the next day. The master arranged this marriage not only to bring you good fortune, but also to make you settle down completely!"
Thomas was so anxious he was practically jumping up and down.
He waved impatiently at the old steward and ordered, "Alright, alright, enough nonsense! Hurry up! Prepare the carriage for me; I'm going to drink that so-called divine blood today!"
