Chapter 129 The Sword Saint Who Would Rather Die Than Surrender

Chapter 129 The Sword Saint Who Would Rather Die Than Surrender

The orc capital city has now become an impregnable stronghold. Although Lester and his men could easily surround the city and wait a year or two to eventually kill it, Lester didn't want to be so cowardly. Moreover, he wasn't sure if Lord Agreed would approve of his cowardly behavior. So, the two of them finally decided to start the attack on the city as soon as the million-strong undead army arrived.

Four days later, the undead army finally arrived, and Lester immediately ordered his army to divide into four parts to besiege the city.

The orcish garrison in the royal city had a clear view of the approaching undead army. The orcs on the city walls immediately sounded the alarm, ordering all soldiers to take their defensive positions and await the start of the battle.

The undead marched slowly toward the city wall in a grand procession. When the orcs saw the dark mass of undead approaching like a tidal wave, they couldn't help but swallow hard in fear.

Once the undead were within range, the orc swordsman in command immediately ordered an attack. Catapults and ballistae within the royal city then attacked the dense horde of undead. Boulders and powerful crossbow bolts shattered swathes of undead into pieces. At the same time, archers on the city walls lit their arrows and fired them at the undead. In an instant, a rain of fire fell upon the undead army, and the terrifying flames began to spread and devour the lower-level undead.

Just then, Lester and Brecel led tens of thousands of vampires to storm the city walls. The vampires, moving with incredible speed, moved like ghosts among the army on the walls. The orcs were killed on the spot before they even saw the faces of their enemies.

Upon seeing this, the orc swordsman immediately shouted, "Orc warriors, use the Lightstone!" Before he finished speaking, a bright light suddenly shone from the orc watchtower, the blinding light instantly dazzling the vampires and causing them to retreat from their high-speed movement.

These Lightstones were magical artifacts obtained by the orcs during their raids on human cities. The orc soldiers, who were well-prepared, were unaffected by the Lightstones. They immediately used their weapons to attack the vampires who had revealed themselves. Many low-level vampires did indeed die in the sudden attack, while the lesser demons and vampires were turned to ashes directly under the bright light. However, Brecel quickly reacted and used shadow magic to destroy all the magical artifacts.

Meanwhile, the high-ranking vampires unaffected by the Lightstone continued their rampage, with flying retinues of vampires such as Sky Demons, Fear Beasts, and swarms of vampire bats descending from the sky to join the battle. The situation became increasingly unfavorable for the orcs, and the vampires' combat power gradually overwhelmed them.

Just then, the densely packed undead took the opportunity to advance to the city gate. Suddenly, a huge battering ram appeared in their wake, surrounded by the undead. The undead actually had siege weapons! This was the only thought in the minds of all the orcs who saw this scene.

Then, the ogre undead, still possessing strong flesh, pushed their massive battering rams, pounding the huge city gate again and again. The bolts on the gate quickly succumbed to the terrifying force and snapped. Meanwhile, the orcs inside the city were too preoccupied with the vampires to reinforce the gate.

A few minutes later, with a huge rumble, the city gate collapsed, and the dead filed in through the open gate.

Seeing their army crumbling, the orc swordsman had no choice but to order his troops to retreat into the city and defend the royal city.

Unfortunately, a massive shadow barrier enveloped the inner imperial city, preventing all orc soldiers from entering, while behind them lay a terrifying undead army.

Lester watched as he unleashed a tenth-tier shadow spell and smiled smugly. He had guessed the orcs' intentions long before the battle began, so he had been hiding to the side, chanting spells, waiting for this moment to completely trap and kill the soldiers.

Upon realizing they were trapped, the orc swordsman immediately turned around and shouted, "Brave warriors! We have no way out! Fight your way out! Escape! Charge!!"

At this moment, the orc army's morale reached its peak, and they began a frenzied attack on the undead army in front of them. The undead surged towards them like a tide, and were then retreated like a tide under the orcs' fierce attack. Lester never expected that his actions would instead cause the orcs' strength to surge and launch a counterattack.

Unfortunately, the difference in strength and numbers between the two sides was too great. Half an hour later, only the wounded orc swordsman was left on the battlefield, surrounded by what seemed to be an endless stream of undead. During this time, the orc swordsman used his unparalleled swordsmanship and powerful battle aura to kill twenty-six high-ranking vampires, including two vampire marquises. As for the low-ranking undead, there were countless more. But... it was all meaningless now. The swordsman was exhausted. He couldn't even force the enemy's two commanders, Lester and Brecel, to personally come down and finish him off.

The orc swordsman, panting heavily, knelt on the ground, leaning on his greatsword. Blood flowing from his forehead had seeped into his eyes, making everything before him appear crimson and terrifying. He was powerless to resist, yet for some reason the undead suddenly stopped attacking.

Suddenly, the undead slowly parted, and a pitch-black skeleton undead, surrounded by Lester and Brecel, came to the orc swordsman. Seeing the sycophantic behavior of Lester and Brecel, the orc swordsman instantly realized that the skeleton in front of him was the undead Scourge who killed High Priest Gul'dan.

The orc swordsman roared and forced himself to stand up; he didn't want to show weakness in front of his enemies.

Seeing this, Agreed nodded approvingly and said, "A strong person with backbone. It's a waste of your talent to stay in the orc kingdom. I admire you. Would you like to come and serve me?"

The orc swordsman mustered his spirits and shouted, "I'm sorry, orcs will never be slaves!"

Upon hearing this, Agreed chuckled and said, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to deny your beliefs, but... there are many things we don't have a choice in. You're still somewhat naive and immature. Aren't you just a slave of the Orc Empire right now? Think about it, once you've reached your level of cultivation, what can the Orc Empire still offer you? Ridiculous glory, faith, and status? I can give you all of those, and I can even grant you immortality and the possibility of advancing further! Since you can become their slave, why don't you come to my side and live a better life?"

The orc swordsman remained silent for a while before replying, "Perhaps you are not wrong, Lord Scourge, but I am an orc, and I have an innate sense of belonging to my race. I'm sorry, I will not be a traitor."

“That’s such a pity,” Agreed said regretfully. “I’m sorry I had to bring you under my wing in another way.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a flash of sword light severed the orc swordsman's head. The Supreme Sword had appeared in Agred's hand without anyone noticing. By the time the people present reacted, the orc swordsman's head had already rolled several times on the ground.
