Chapter 15: Sparring, Sparring, Learning the Knife
Chapter 15: Sparring, Sparring, Learning the Knife
Ninja Academy, training grounds.
It was another sparring session, and the players on the field were Taiyi and Might Guy.
The two's taijutsu skills have now far surpassed those of ordinary genin. Even Yamada-sensei, a chunin, had to be fully focused during their sparring sessions to prevent any unexpected incidents.
"Taiichi, you've gotten even stronger!"
"However, I won't fall behind at all!"
Might Guy felt the pressure, but he became even more fired up, his punches and kicks becoming more powerful and faster.
"Bang, bang, bang." The sounds of fists and feet colliding were incessant.
The two fought back and forth, their battle proving to be evenly matched.
The students watching the game cheered for the two, but interestingly, most of those cheering for Taiyi were girls, while most of those cheering for Kai were boys.
Kakashi, who was also watching, keenly noticed that Matsushita Taichi's strength had significantly improved. He knew that Taichi's ninjutsu level was quite good. Especially the Phoenix Flower Technique, which he had mastered to an artful degree. Now, without using ninjutsu, he was fighting Guy to a standstill with just taijutsu, which gave a glimpse into his true strength.
Teacher Yamada nodded in approval as he watched the match. Not only Taichi, but there were many excellent ninjas in this year's class. It was a pity about Might Guy, though; his taijutsu talent was so good, but his ninjutsu talent was so poor.
……
After dozens more rounds, the two fighters, locked in combat, simultaneously withdrew their punches and separated. Matsushita Taichi and Might Guy both knelt on one knee, drenched in sweat, their heavy breathing audible even from the sidelines. Neither of them had the strength to continue fighting.
"Taichi Matsushita and Might Guy, it's a draw," announced Mr. Yamada.
After the two regulated their breathing and formed a reconciliation hand seal, Teacher Yamada continued to announce: "Next match, Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha."
Upon hearing their names called, the two exchanged a glance. Kakashi maintained his aloof demeanor and slowly walked onto the field. Obito, however, turned to Rin and said, "Rin, watch me beat that annoying Kakashi down." This left Rin looking helpless.
On the field, "Kakashi, you will definitely be defeated by my fists this time."
"If you don't arrive late every day, then I'll believe you," Kakashi said calmly.
Obito Uchiha immediately gritted his teeth: "You arrogant Kakashi, you just wait!"
Once the two formed their opposing hand seals, Obito couldn't wait to rush forward, and a fierce battle began, no less intense than the fight between Taichi and Guy just now.
The girls watching unanimously cheered for Kakashi. This enraged Obito even more, and his attacks became even more ferocious.
Taiyi was completely focused, his eyes fixed on the two people fighting.
He's not the only one making progress; everyone is progressing, even Obito, whose progress is equally significant.
After more than twenty minutes, Kakashi seized the opportunity and kicked Obito away.
While in the air, Obito adjusted his body posture, landed, rolled a few times, and then leaped up again, holding a kunai.
Kakashi also took out his kunai, and sparks flew as the two figures clashed, accompanied by the clanging sound of the kunai colliding.
"It seems Kakashi is already learning swordsmanship." Taichi saw the shadow of swordsmanship in Kakashi's moves, which were noticeably different from when they fought before. After all, Kakashi has a father who is known as the "White Fang of Konoha," a master swordsman.
Taiichi wondered if he should learn swordsmanship, since he preferred swords to close-combat weapons like kunai.
After another dozen or so rounds, Obito, who was once again at a disadvantage, suddenly retreated several steps. After retreating a certain distance, he began to form hand seals, his cheeks puffed out, and then he opened his mouth and spewed out a torrent of flames.
Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique is considered a standard ninjutsu of the Uchiha clan.
Taiichi was also taken aback, as this was the first time he had ever seen Obito use ninjutsu.
But he quickly came to terms with it. Even though Obito only lived with his grandmother, he was still a scion of a wealthy and powerful family. His family had its own standard ninja training system, unlike ordinary ninjas who had to risk their lives for a single ninjutsu.
At this moment, Kakashi remained calm and composed. He also formed hand seals and slammed his hands onto the ground. The earth trembled, and a wall of earth rose up from the ground.
It is Earth Escape Technique: Earth Flow Wall.
"boom."
The spherical flames struck the earthen wall and then scattered and erupted, causing many students watching to back away.
"cut."
Obito's carefully prepared ninjutsu failed to achieve its goal, and he reluctantly pursed his lips before charging forward again.
……
"That's the difference!"
Although there are many geniuses in this class, the gap between them is still huge. In Taiichi's class, Kakashi and Obito have mastered several ninjutsu, while some commoner ninjas are still not proficient in the Three Body Technique.
Taiyi couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
In the past, Kakashi clearly did not use his full strength when fighting them, but only relied on taijutsu. Judging from the proficiency of his technique, it was obviously not the Earth Release he had just learned.
You can see your own efforts, but you can't see the efforts of others. But that doesn't mean they don't exist.
Given Kakashi's background, he probably started training at the age of three or four.
However, Taiyi wasn't going to underestimate himself. With the panel, as long as he worked hard and took things one step at a time, he wouldn't be any worse than anyone else. Didn't you see he'd already caught up?
After another dozen or so rounds, Kakashi used a clone to trick the reckless Obito, then kicked Obito away and, before he could get up, handed him a kunai.
Obito was unwilling, but he had no choice but to admit defeat.
Watching the two fight, Yamada-sensei sighed repeatedly, "Kakashi is the son of Konoha's White Fang. He is naturally talented and has inherited a lot of family skills. He will definitely become an outstanding ninja in the future."
"As for Uchiha Obito, his combat ability is also quite good. He can use the Great Fireball Technique at such a young age, which shows that he is not lacking in talent and hard work. However, he is a bit reckless, and he still needs to work on that."
Seeing Obito admit defeat, Kakashi, with great sportsmanship, extended his hand. Obito glanced at him, then reluctantly took Kakashi's hand and stood up.
The two then formed a seal of reconciliation with each other.
Next, Asuma, Rin Nohara, Shizune, and others took to the field. Their months of training had clearly paid off; unlike the sparring session at the beginning of the semester, they were now able to seamlessly integrate the Three Body Techniques and ninja tools. Asuma, in particular, could occasionally showcase a Wind Release technique.
This shows how much progress everyone has made during this period.
……
After school, Taichi, Guy, and Kakashi met up again and went to the grove for training. After they finished training, Taichi pulled Kakashi aside and asked, "Kakashi, I noticed some swordsmanship in your practice today. Have you started learning swordsmanship?"
Kakashi was also surprised when he heard this. He had only been learning swordsmanship for a little over a month, and he didn't expect that Taiyi could see through it. His eyesight was truly amazing.
"Yes, is there a problem?"
"It's like this, I also want to learn swordsmanship, but I don't know how. Can you teach me?"
"Just teach me the basics of swordsmanship," Taiichi emphasized.
"I have no problem with it, but I need to go back and ask my father, since I'm just a beginner myself."
"Thank you so much! Since I wasn't prepared this time, I'll cook for you next time!"
Upon hearing this, Kakashi's eyes lit up, and he felt even more motivated.
