Chapter 1 Kakashi: Who is Hatake 55? Me?
Chapter 1 Kakashi: Who is Hatake 55? Me?
In the Land of Fire, in Konoha Village, within the territory of the Hatake clan.
Kakashi Hatake stared into thought as he looked at a diary on the table in front of him.
The cover of the diary reads "Kitahara Kaede's Diary (Kakashi Hatake's Copy)".
The diary had just fallen from the sky onto the desk in front of him, which made him very nervous for a while. He even carefully checked the inside and outside, but found no trace of any traps or ninjutsu.
You must understand, this is the ancestral land of the Hatake clan. Although he is now the only true member of the Hatake clan left, there are still quite a few other collateral branches with Hatake blood. Ordinary people cannot possibly play any tricks under the nose of Konoha's number one technician.
After all, he was Konoha's number one technician, one of the top ninjas standing under the Kage of each village.
After confirming that it was not poisonous, he opened the diary.
It really is a diary, but the contents of this diary are so strange.
May 1st, the 63rd year of Konoha, sunny.
[Setting off to quell the rebellious mountain bandits.]
May 2nd, sunny
[What kind of damn world is this? I've never even killed a chicken before, but today I've killed several bandits. But these bandits were certainly ruthless.]
May 3rd, sunny
No unexpected incidents occurred during the return trip.
May 4th, cloudy
Finally back in Konoha, my tense heart can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
May 5th, sunny
Nothing to do today, so I'm practicing at home.
May 6th, showers
Nothing to do today, so I'm practicing at home.
May 7th, sunny
Nothing much to do today, will continue my spiritual practice.
May 8th, Cloudy
I completed a C-level task today. I'm tired.
Kakashi Hatake frowned as he read on, noting that all he'd read so far were trivial daily matters. It seemed to be the diary of a Konoha ninja named Kitahara Kaede, recording everyday events.
Writing a diary is not very common for ninjas, let alone writing one every day, because a diary may reveal a lot of key information, and intelligence is very important to ninjas.
However, he couldn't help but frown at what he read next.
May 9th, sunny
Today I passed by the Ninja Academy and saw the famous Naruto Uzumaki. He was completely ostracized. The Demon Fox? Ha, foolish villagers, it's utterly ridiculous.
However, I didn't dare approach him. Who knew if there were any ANBU nearby who could just come up and take me down? After all, I was just an ordinary Chunin; in wartime, I'd only be cannon fodder.
Upon seeing this, Kakashi Hatake suddenly sat up straight. Of course, he knew who Naruto Uzumaki was—his teacher's posthumous son, with the legendary Nine-Tailed Fox sealed within him. But how did Kitahara Kaede know all this?
Only a very small number of people in the Konoha leadership and even Naruto himself knew that Naruto Uzumaki was the posthumous son of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze.
Not many people knew that a nine-tailed fox was sealed inside him. Ordinary villagers only knew that he was the incarnation of some kind of fox demon, and thought that he was the incarnation of the giant nine-tailed fox demon from the Nine-Tailed Chaos twelve years ago.
Even most of the ninjas weren't entirely clear on the matter, but judging from Kitahara Kaede's words, it seemed he knew something.
Kitahara Kaede, Chunin!
He was certain that he had absolutely no information about this Chunin named Kitahara Kaede in his mind.
To be precise, there are countless ninjas in Konoha. Even many Jonin might not recognize them all, let alone Chunin.
Those who become widely known are often a small number of elites who have made a name for themselves, and such people are rare even among Jonin.
He had begun to suspect that this guy named Kitahara Kaede might be a spy from another village. He wanted to find Kitahara Kaede almost immediately, but as soon as the thought arose, an invisible and terrifying pressure descended.
He instinctively sensed that if he took that step, he would die instantly!
Kakashi immediately dismissed the thought, but he still suspected that someone was around his house, so he immediately activated his sensory ninjutsu to sense the surrounding situation.
Although he is not a sensory ninja, as a renowned Konoha technician, he does know some sensory ninjutsu, but it is far less accurate and has a much wider range than that of a sensory ninja.
However, he still couldn't find anyone in his perception.
Are there still people like this in the world?
Impossible. Even the Hokage couldn't do all this silently, let alone be able to sense his own thoughts.
The mere thought of finding Kitahara Kaede would instantly trigger a profound sense of terror.
He couldn't understand it, but one thing he was sure of was that as long as he didn't think about going to find Kitahara Kaede, this terrifying pressure wouldn't arise.
Kakashi Hatake touched his back, which was now completely soaked in cold sweat.
No, he had to find out about Kitahara Kaede's background and situation. He also discovered that as long as he didn't think about going directly to Kitahara Kaede, he wouldn't trigger that terrifying pressure.
This suggests that it's possible to find out information indirectly, such as by trying to obtain files related to Kitahara Kaede, which is obviously not taboo.
But if there really is such a terrifying being, what is its purpose?
Clearly, they didn't intend to keep Kitahara Kaede's secret, and even actively exposed the secret of Kitahara Kaede's diary. Why was that?
There are too many mysteries; he simply can't figure them out.
However, he soon saw the last entry in the diary.
May 10th, sunny
[On my way home after receiving my mission today, I saw Hatake Kamen Rider in the distance. It was the first time I'd ever actually seen this Konoha technician who was renowned throughout the entire ninja world. Below the Kage level, he was probably one of the top ninjas. It's a pity, though, that kind of combat power has never been able to keep up since Shippuden. Ultimately, this is a world where legends are defined by eyes; without bloodlines, you are nothing.]
Is it a 50/50 split?
Are you talking about me?
Kakashi Hatake was stunned. He had been wondering if there really was someone named Kakashi Hatake in the Hatake clan. Although he was the only legitimate member of the Hatake clan left, some members with distant bloodlines still existed.
Then, looking at the later description, "Konoha Technician," it's clearly referring to him.
But when did he get the nickname "Hatake 55"?
And what is Shippuden? What is the world of the Legend of the Eyes, where without bloodlines you are nothing?
He knew about bloodlines, he should be referring to bloodline limits, but who said that without bloodline limits you are nothing?
His father, without any bloodline limit, single-handedly carved out the reputation of Konoha's White Fang with just a sword, and he too earned the reputation of Konoha's number one technician.
While bloodline limits are very powerful in this world, starting much higher than ordinary ninjas, they are not invincible.
For example, he has never had a bloodline limit, but he has always been the best among his peers since childhood. Among those he has left behind, there are quite a few scions of great clans who have bloodline limits.
The Uchiha clan, the Hyuga clan, and so on.
Most of these people were no match for him.
