Chapter 144 Familiar with the Way
Chapter 144 Familiar with the Way
"Captain, are we protecting the daimyo or is the daimyo protecting us?"
"Isn't Daimyo's skill a bit too good?" Xiyan couldn't help but ask, staring at the departing figure.
Kakashi was still immersed in the scene he had just witnessed, which involuntarily reminded him of someone, but he quickly dismissed the possibility.
"Captain..." Another call brought him back to his senses. "There will always be a time when we'll be needed."
"There's an inn up ahead, let's rest there tonight!" Hua Ling said, seeing a glimmer of light in the distance.
“Yes, sir.” Shisui replied respectfully.
Hua Ling had gotten used to Shi Shui's serious demeanor, and even Kakashi didn't have the lazy, laid-back vibe he usually had in the anime.
She suddenly looked at Moonlight Gale, who was wearing a mask, and pointed at him, asking, "Are you alright?"
Hearing this, Moonlight Gale looked confused for a moment before finally saying, "That's good."
"Oh, so when are you getting married to this person?" She then pointed to Uzuki Yugao next to her.
Their faces instantly turned bright red; if it weren't for the masks covering their faces, they would have wanted to flee the place.
"Were they being too obvious?"
"How did you even recognize his full name?"
Just as Moonlight Gale was considering how to answer, Flower Spirit spoke up again, "If you don't want to marry her, then let her be my wife. I happen to be short one, how about it?"
"Daimyo, don't joke like that," Shisui immediately interjected.
"I'm very serious, okay!" Hua Ling said defiantly, after all, she was annoyed by the constant pressure to get married lately.
"Daimyo, our wedding is next month," Moonlight Gale suddenly blurted out.
He was truly afraid that Xiyan would be targeted by the daimyo, and he would be powerless to stop it.
"Are you sure? If you're lying to me, I'll bring Xiyan to Daming Prefecture." Hua Ling said deliberately, indulging in teasing.
Moonlight Gale's expression stiffened, but he quickly regained his composure and said firmly, "If the lord doesn't believe me, he can send someone to attend the wedding."
“Okay, I’ll give you a big gift then,” Hua Ling replied.
Just as they arrived at the hotel, the rest of the group finally caught up, looking at them with resentment.
"Ahem..." Hua Ling coughed twice and said, "You've come at the right time. Go and book the entire hotel. You can stay here tonight."
"Yes, Your Excellency..." a guard named Qing replied.
"One, two, three..." she counted silently in her mind.
"Daimyo, everything has been arranged." Qing walked out of the inn and approached the Daimyo with a respectful expression.
Hua Ling, unsuspecting, stepped towards the hotel entrance.
"Pfft..."
Just as she stepped through the door, a cold light pierced Hua Ling's heart.
"Got it! Get out of here!"
Before she could finish speaking, Hua Ling, who had fallen to the ground, had somehow turned into a piece of wood.
"This...how is this possible?" The assassin ninja's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared on his face, and he fell to the ground.
The other ninjas hiding in the inn were also all eliminated.
The real daimyo then stepped into the hotel. "Qing, I'm sorry you had to go through this," she comforted the only victim among the guards, and then chose the largest room to rest.
The Land of Iron.
"Ye, it's time to get up. Today is the last Chunin Exam. Being late will result in disqualification." Itachi never expected that Ye would be such a lazy person.
"Okay, I'll take a nap." Uchiha Ye murmured, turned over, and fell asleep again.
"Ye, you said the same thing before..."
He would have let Ye continue sleeping if it were before, but now there's less than an hour left before the competition, and if he doesn't hurry over, he'll really be late.
Uchiha Itachi had no choice but to skillfully lift the blanket, pick her up, and place her on a chair in front of a dressing table. He then picked up a comb and began to tie her hair.
"Ouch..." Uchiha Ye dozed off in his half-asleep state, accidentally pulling his hair and crying out.
Itachi paused, rubbed the area he had pulled, and then continued combing, but his movements were much gentler than before.
Getting out of bed, Uchiha Ye slowly woke up, looked at his hairstyle in the mirror and exclaimed, "Itachi, if you weren't a ninja, you would definitely be a very successful hairstylist. I would definitely come to you every day."
"Yes, that day will come." A smile appeared on Itachi's lips. "I'll wait for you at the door!"
Uchiha Ye grunted in response, got up to wash up, found an outfit that matched his hairstyle, changed into it, and pushed open the door. "Itachi, we can go now."
A hint of amazement flashed in Itachi's eyes. He hummed in agreement, then calmly took Ye's hand and led her towards the competition venue.
"It's strange, I haven't seen Yamato at all lately."
"Itachi, do you know what's going on?"
Itachi had already prepared his explanation: "It seems the village has arranged some things for him, but that's not something we can ask him."
"This...something feels off..." She scratched her head, unable to figure it out, and too lazy to keep thinking about it, too much of a waste of her brain.
Walking down the street, she said, "Itachi, I want to eat that tofu, it looks so delicious." She pointed to a snack shop.
"Wait, I'll go buy it for you."
"it is good."
Uchiha Yoru stood there obediently waiting, when suddenly a fragrance wafted straight to her head. "What smells so good!"
"Ye, what a coincidence!" A familiar voice rang in her ears.
"Brother Tu, what's this?" She looked at the food and drinks in his hands.
"There's the Chunin Exams today, and I was just about to go watch them," Boss Tu explained.
Upon hearing this, Uchiha Ye politely replied, "What a coincidence! Itachi and I were just about to go too. Let's go together in a bit."
"Okay!" Boss Tu seemed to have been waiting for this sentence, and agreed.
"No, she was just being polite. This person isn't polite at all." She chuckled to herself, just as she saw Itachi walk over with the food he had bought. "Ye, eat it while it's hot."
She hummed in agreement and took the food Itachi offered, seemingly forgetting that Boss Tu was there.
Boss Tu clenched his fist, breaking the calm atmosphere, "There are only ten minutes left in the Chunin Exams, aren't you going to hurry up and get there?"
"what!"
"Really?" Uchiha Ye put the food she was about to put in her mouth back down. She grabbed Itachi and ran towards the arena, shouting as she ran, "Brother Tu, thank you for reminding us. We'll go first."
"Didn't we agree to go together?" Boss Tu watched the two figures leave, his face full of gloom. "That Uchiha Itachi is really in the way."
They rushed as fast as they could and arrived at the venue in five minutes.
"Itachi, I'm going to place a bet!" Uchiha Ye was about to enter the arena when he saw the betting area and immediately stopped, betting all the money he had on him.
The two arrived at the competition venue just one minute in.
"I am Huang Tu, the examiner for the second round of the third session of the Chunin Exams!"
He scanned all the examinees present, noticing the two Konoha examinees who had just arrived. His eyes flickered slightly, and without saying much, he announced, "The competition now begins."
Soon the names on the screen started scrolling, "Uchiha Yoh vs. Kisame Hoshigaki!"
Uchiha Ye stopped in his tracks, "Are you kidding me?!"
