Chapter 160 The Liar
Chapter 160 The Liar
Today, Uchiha Yoh was planning to ask Shimura Danzo to join Root, but after thinking about it, she decided to tell Itachi in person.
After being promoted to Chunin, Orochimaru's team was essentially defunct.
Konoha would never allow the two to remain in the same squad.
If they weren't so young, they would probably have been promoted directly to Jonin.
After all, their performance on the battlefield and in the Chunin Exams demonstrated enough strength to qualify them as Jonin.
Now, Sister Hongdou has become the team leader, leading two teammates to carry out missions.
Yamato returned to Konoha and went straight to the Anbu.
She made a deal with Fugaku Uchiha: she would join the Anbu, and Itachi would most likely join the police force to learn how to handle affairs alongside Fugaku, preparing to become the next clan leader.
Ultimately, it depends on what path Itachi wants to take. She doesn't want to interfere any further, but this time he doesn't need to choose between Konoha and his clan, so his burden should be much lighter.
She hadn't seen Itachi for many days and missed him terribly, wondering what he was doing.
Uchiha Yoru decides to take the initiative. There's nothing wrong with her confessing first; 'it's easy for a woman to pursue a man,' and Itachi should agree, right?
She looked at the ring she had carved herself in her palm. She had read a story that said if you make a ring by hand and give it to the person you love, you will stay with them for life.
Although she didn't really believe it, people always need to have some hope.
With the ring tucked in his hand, Uchiha Ye unknowingly arrived at Itachi's doorstep.
She learned from Aunt Mikoto that Itachi had gone out early this morning. Aunt Mikoto's attitude was a bit strange today. Although she was as gentle and friendly as before, she felt that something was different today.
Uchiha Ye left with a puzzled expression, but quickly put it out of his mind. Finding Itachi was more important; he could just ask Itachi later.
"That's strange, where could Itachi have gone?" She searched several places but couldn't find him, and wondered, "Did he go on a mission?"
However, if it were about carrying out a mission, Aunt Mikoto should have told her about it when she went to Itachi's house.
It seems my plan to confess my feelings today will have to be put on hold. I still want to talk to her in person about what happened at the root of the matter, but there's nothing I can do if I can't find her.
Uchiha Ye glanced at the sky and decided to go home and write a letter for Aunt Mikoto to pass on to Itachi. Although they would see each other much less after joining Root, it would make Itachi feel less worried if he explained things clearly.
She definitely couldn't confess her feelings through letters; she wanted to meet Itachi in person before speaking to him, otherwise it would be too insincere.
Without thinking, she set off in the direction of her home, still wondering where Itachi might be.
"Huh...that's Itachi!" Uchiha Ye passed by a chopping board by the river and immediately recognized the figure from behind.
She was about to speak when she noticed someone else sitting next to him, and her words stopped abruptly.
"Is that Uchiha Izumi?" Although she hadn't seen her since graduating from the Ninja Academy, she recognized her at a glance.
"So the story will actually unfold in another timeline?"
Itachi seemed to sense the gaze behind him, but when he turned around, he found nothing.
"Itachi, what's wrong?" Uchiha Izumi asked in confusion.
Today, Izumi Uchiha was overjoyed to run into Itachi on the street. Ever since Itachi saved her life on the night of the Nine-Tails' death, her gaze had been constantly fixed on him, hoping he would glance at her.
"Nothing!" Itachi turned back to continue asking the girl what she might like. This was a suggestion from his mother. He happened to meet a girl from the same class on the street today, which led to this situation.
He must be fully prepared to confess his feelings successfully on the first try.
Thinking of Ye, Itachi's face softened into a gentle smile, which stunned Uchiha Izumi, who was standing nearby. Her heart pounded, and a faint blush rose to her cheeks. "This is the first time I've ever seen Itachi like this."
When Uchiha Yo saw the two of them lock eyes, his heart died completely at that moment.
So nothing will change after all?
But what does this mean? If you don't like her, why are you being so nice to her? Why make people have the wrong impression?
Why are they all like this? Why do they all treat her like this?
Uchiha Ye clutched his aching head, as if memories buried deep within his mind were about to be awakened.
In the end, she managed to suppress her emotions and regain her composure, but the ring in her palm was crushed into powder and scattered in the air.
Uchiha Ye didn't know how he left that place; he only felt empty inside and couldn't muster any energy for anything.
She wandered aimlessly down the street, passing one building after another. When she passed Ichiraku Ramen, she stopped and went inside, forcing a smile. "Uncle Tate, the usual."
"Okay!" the middle-aged man replied cheerfully.
Soon, a bowl full of char siu ramen was brought over.
Uchiha Ye picked up her chopsticks and took a piece of char siu pork, wanting to put it in her mouth several times, but in the end she put it back. "It's clearly one of the foods she likes in this game world, but she just can't muster the desire to eat it."
"Ye, I didn't expect to see you here." As soon as Iruka entered the ramen shop, he saw a familiar figure, and a hint of joy flashed across his face.
"Oh, by the way, thank you for the cake you sent the other day!" Iruka pulled up a chair next to Uchiha Ye and sat down.
"Don't be so polite. We're friends after all. Buying a cake to congratulate you on your promotion to Chunin isn't enough, is it?" Uchiha Ye forced a smile.
"You...you're willing to be my friend!" Iruka's face flashed with disbelief.
“Of course,” Uchiha Ye replied noncommittally, then added, “Sorry, I suddenly remembered I have something urgent to take care of, so I have to go now. Let’s talk again next time.”
After she finished speaking, she put down the money, got up, and left.
Uchiha Ye was in a bad mood and didn't want to talk to anyone, so he made an excuse to leave.
Iruka tried several times to persuade her to stay, but ultimately lacked the courage to say it and watched her leave.
She hadn't walked far from the ramen shop when she ran into Kakashi. She nodded briefly as a perfunctory greeting and then walked right past him.
"Ye seems a bit off," Kakashi said, following behind her at a leisurely pace.
Although Uchiha Ye noticed this, he was too lazy to pay attention to it and was immersed in his own thoughts.
Before she knew it, she arrived at a training ground, the place where she spent the most time with Itachi.
She found the big tree and sat down, and memories kept replaying in her mind like a tide.
"I never thought that even falling for an NPC would end badly."
"It's great...it's really great..."
She wiped her eyes, but not a single tear came out. Instead, she laughed out loud, "Heh..."
At this moment, Uchiha Yoh seemed to have closed the door to his heart tightly, never wanting to open it again.
"But why does my heart still ache so much?" She clutched her chest, quietly sensing the pain, as if trying to remember the feeling so she wouldn't repeat the same mistake.
"Kakashi, can I borrow your shoulder?" she called out calmly.
Kakashi, who had been hiding behind her, came out immediately upon hearing this. He sat down next to Uchiha Hae, his shoulder at a height where she could lean against him.
"Thank you!" Uchiha Ye leaned his head on Kakashi's shoulder, thanked him, and then fell silent.
Kakashi also cooperated by acting as a tool, quietly staying by her side.
An hour later, Uchiha Ye finally calmed down. "My head is sore from being in the same position for so long," she said, rubbing her neck with a frustrated expression.
Hearing the complaining voice, Kakashi knew that the somewhat carefree Uchiha Yo had returned.
"If you feel sour, you can lean against me," Kakashi suggested.
"Ah!" Uchiha Ye was clearly stunned for a moment, and when he turned his head, he was met with Kakashi's face.
The two faces were so close that they could feel each other's breathing.
Kakashi's throat bobbed noticeably, and just as he was about to get closer, Uchiha Yoh stood up and fled in a panic.
“They’re all liars, she’ll never fall for them again.”
"A wise person does not fall in love," became her motto from then on.
