Chapter 1008: Abusing the Rules
Chapter 1008: Abusing the Rules
A fleshy wall inside the Demon Car opened."Here you go," Kyle said to Sebastian.
Sebastian looked with discomfort at the tunnel. A moment later, he took a deep breath and walked through it.
The wall closed again, and the other two waited with awkwardness.
Kyle didn't want to make it too awkward for Sebastian. This entire thing was already awkward enough.
'Glad I don't have to do this. Although it might be even stranger for me. I mean, technically, it's not bad. It's just... super weird. Seriously, how does Manny even come up with this stuff?'
Some minutes later, Sebastian returned. "Well, it was pretty easy. I did what Manny told me to do, and it worked."
"Yep, it worked," Kyle said. "Now, we just have to wait for a couple of years. I'm already driving the Demon Car back to the west."
"Good," Sebastian said.
Star Genesis just furrowed her brows as she looked at the fleshy ground. She also didn't like this, but it would make everyone's life easier.
As the Demon Car traveled to the west, Sebastian stayed in a separate "room".
Inside that room, Sebastian's perception entered the growing ball of flesh in the middle, constantly creating a connection.
So, what was going on?
Well, in order for Kyle to fulfill his goals, he needed to do things that wouldn't help the other two fulfill their goals. Kyle was supposed to increase his power as much as possible. Star Genesis and Sebastian were supposed to investigate the Elemental Dimension and decode the Formation Arrays inside of it. If they could circumvent some of the Formation Arrays, they might be able to unlock the Primordial Force Laws for Kyle. Additionally, they might learn more about the Overseer and their plan.
That meant the group had to split up, which meant that they needed a second Demon Car. Yet, they only had one Demon Car. Manny could have created a second and a third Demon Car, but that would have led to all three Demon Cars being on a lower level than the current one. Additionally, it would have made it difficult for Kyle to fuse with an Elemental. Without their help, he wouldn't have succeeded.
That was why Manny had come up with a couple of ways to create more Demon Cars. The group could choose which method to use based on how things would develop.
The method they would use took advantage of the Cosmos' rules. In fact, they were not breaking any rules. Instead, they were taking advantage of a past instance of when the rules had been broken to achieve something that didn't break the rules.
The Demon Car wasn't supposed to exist. It broke the rules by coming into existence in its current form, but now it was there. It existed. It was legally alive. And since it was alive, it was okay for it to do things that other living things were allowed to do.
Procreation.
The Demon Car was an Elemental that looked like a beast, but legally, it was a human. After all, it had a Spirit, and only humans had Spirits. It didn't have a distinct mind or Center, but it had a Spirit and a body.
In short, Sebastian had given the Demon Car some of his Energy, and the Demon Car was currently creating a new copy of itself. While offspring usually looked like a mix of the two parents, Manny made sure that the Demon Car would dictate 99% of the offspring's features.
Since Sebastian was a human, and since the Demon Car was technically also a human, and since the Demon Car had the biological equipment to create a new life, a child could be conceived.
The new child would have a true biological body and a Spirit. However, it wouldn't have a mind, a brain, or a Center. It would also look just like the Demon Car, only smaller.
It was essentially an empty body that looked like a beast while having the official designation of human.
During the journey, Sebastian connected his mind to the new Demon Car. During the creation, the Spirit would also adapt features of the developing life and interact with the developing mind. Since Sebastian's mind was present, his mind would be officially recognized as the new Demon Car's mind.
In order to deal with the lack of a Center, Sebastian would need to act as the new Demon Car's Center. Instead of receiving and storing Energy inside a Center, the new Demon Car would use Sebastian.
Sebastian would be its mind and Center.
None of this was supposed to work or exist. This didn't just break the rules but fundamentally abused and warped them. This broke the very basis on which the entire Cosmos operated.
This was why errors in the system were supposed to get fixed. One error wasn't so bad, but an error could create more errors, which could create more errors, and so on.
As Kyle saw Sebastian connecting with the new Demon Car, he shook his head and sighed.
'The God has been gone for far too long. The number of exploits, bugs, and cheats is just going to keep growing.'
'The Demon Car's consciousness most likely comes from the founder of Manny's Organization. If such a simple consciousness can already bend the rules to this degree, what can the founder do?'
'Is that why Manny's Organization knows so much? How much power do they actually have?'
Kyle furrowed his brows. 'What if they are actually so strong that they can break everything? What if they found a way to break the entire Cosmos?'
'But then, why didn't they?'
'Actually, it's not hard to find the reason. If they break the Cosmos, they will also die. While they might have the power to break the Cosmos, they probably can't win against the God in an open confrontation. A human can easily stomp a parasitic worm to death, but if it's inside them, the situation's different.'
'If the Cosmos breaks, the God most likely dies, and the Cult's God will arrive. In front of him, they will be helpless. If the Cult's God wins the battle, they will die.'
'However, they also don't want our God to win. As far as I know, the God's power is reliant on the powers inside his Cosmos. If he eradicates the Organization, his power will drop significantly. Yet, if he's already won the battle, he can afford to pay the price and restart his Cosmos. The Organization will lose its leverage.'
'The best-case scenario for the Organization would be a draw. They probably want the battle to end with both parties retreating. This would create an arms race, and the God would be forced to accept the Organization's terms, unless he wants his hated opponent to leave him in the dust.'
Kyle sighed.
'However, all of this is just conjecture. I can't be sure if that's actually what's going on.'
'I have to get out of Ayuvar first. All of this God stuff is far beyond my pay grade.'
'First, Sebastian and Star Genesis need their own Demon Car. Afterward, I can improve the power of my Demon Car, which gives me access to better areas, which have better Law Wells. Then, I need some kind of permission to comprehend Laws without looking suspicious.'
'Still a lot to do, but at least, we have a plan.'
'I just hope nothing goes wrong.'
