Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1010: I Don't Know!

Chapter 1010: I Don't Know!

"AAAAAAHHHHH!"Screams filled the underground cave. A man was screaming his lungs out as several roots stabbed into his head. These roots were not just causing physical injuries, but they were also injecting a complex cocktail of different poisons into the man's head.

"General Psychosis Manifestation," a voice spoke as the poisons were pulled out of Manny's head. The owner of the voice was a tall man with black hair. One might mistake him for a human if it weren't for the eight arms sprouting out of his body.

The man wore a form-fitting set of armor, made of scales and metal. Yet, he didn't carry any weapons.

"I already told you, I- AAAAHH!" Manny's words were interrupted as a cocktail of poisons was injected into his head again.

"You only need to answer questions," the humanoid Demon said calmly. "The sooner you learn to follow orders, the sooner you're allowed to die."

Manny just kept screaming as the humanoid Demon emotionlessly looked at him.

Naturally, this was one of the true leaders of the Demons. Kyle hadn't seen any of these humanoid Demons before, but he had heard of them. Apparently, they were as intelligent as humans. They could even create Formation Arrays and forge equipment.

Manny kept screaming in agony. He already knew that there was no way out of this situation. There was no way anyone would be able to save him from his predicament.

The pain was worse than anything he could have imagined. The poisons slowly eroded parts of his mind. Even worse, his existence couldn't adapt to the poisons since their compositions were constantly changing.

This was similar to the experience Kyle had had while fusing with his Elemental, except that he had done that voluntarily and that there was an actual end in sight.

For Manny, there was no end in sight.

His life was over, and the worst part was... he didn't even know why.

One moment, he had been fulfilling his duties as a faithful General of Humanity, and in the next, this Demon had shot out of the ground.

After some time, the poison retreated, and Manny became silent.

"Are you ready to answer some questions?" the humanoid Demon asked.

"Yes," Manny spoke weakly.

The poisons didn't return.

"First question: Why did your aura change?" the humanoid Demon asked.

"I don't know what you mean," Manny answered in weak confusion. "I didn't change my aurAAAAAAH!"

"Your aura changed," the humanoid Demon said slowly. "Your aura was dark, intense, and solid when I took you away. After you got here and woke back up, it changed. Your aura is now distorted, bright, and flexible."

The poisons stopped.

"Why has it changed?" the Demon asked.

"I don't know, okay?!" Manny shouted, his expression desperate. "I don't even know how to change my aura! How is that even possible?! I never heard of anyone having the ability to change their aura!"

The poisons returned.

"There are more believable lies, General Psychosis Manifestation," the Demon stated.

The poisons stopped.

"Why did your aura change?"

"I... I don't know the right answer," Manny said, tears running down his face. "I don't know! I don't remember! I swear on my life!"

Surprisingly, the poisons didn't return.

"Your oath has no weight," the Demon said. "The Heaven Clouding Formation Array stops any oath from taking effect."

"I don't know! I'm sorry! I don't know!" Manny shouted. "I don't know what you want!"

The Demon glanced at Manny coldly.

"Next question: Why is your resistance to pain so low? You've finished all Refinements. Someone like you shouldn't have broken this early."

"Because..." Manny shouted as he wanted to answer instinctively. Yet, as soon as his mind tried to find the memories relating to his Refinements, he barely found any.

"I..." Manny whispered with a shaky voice as he looked at the ground in confusion and horror. "I... don't know. I-I must've gone through the Refinements, but... everything's gone. I remember thinking about something. I remember giving orders and analyzing numbers during my first Refinements, but I don't know what happened during the last ones."

As Manny tried to remember, he also stopped giving his Energy the command to detonate. He had tried to kill himself countless times, but it wasn't possible. Just looking down was already difficult. After all...

He was only a head.

His body was several meters away from his head. Roots were also coming out of it, and these same roots entered Manny's head.

They were absorbing the Energy of Manny's Center, transforming it, and sending it to his head. This would keep Manny alive while also stopping him from controlling his Energy since the Energy flowing through his head was not his own.

Detonating his Energy didn't work.

Biting his tongue didn't work since he wasn't a Mortal.

Swearing an impossible oath didn't work due to the Heaven Clouding Formation Array.

He couldn't die.

Yet, Manny's mind wasn't occupied with his current situation but with his memories.

His mind went through his life, but a lot of it was missing.

He didn't remember his childhood. He remembered being chosen by a Mortal Sect on a random Planet in the Supreme World. He remembered rising through the ranks while constantly focusing on his power.

He remembered becoming a Unique Transcendent and directly joining the Array of Stars.

But then, his memories became filled with holes.

He remembered working on his powers by spending Contribution Points, but he didn't remember how he got the Contribution Points.

He remembered some years in the Secondary Sector. He used to be the leader of a big Tribe, and eventually, he managed to become a Legendary Crusher.

Then, a cut. The next thing he remembered was joining Humanity. His memories were filled with an ungodly amount of secretive information about Humanity, but he didn't remember how he obtained that information.

He remembered becoming a Lieutenant General, but he didn't remember the thing he had asked for as a reward.

He remembered being promoted to the position of General before starting his work.

Yet, less than two centuries later, this Demon had arrived.

No one even noticed. The Demon had arrived as quickly as it had left. However, even if someone had noticed, it wouldn't have changed anything.

No human could resist a Late Ascendant Demon.

The strongest humans could barely fight an Early Ascendant Demon.

"I don't remember," Manny spoke weakly. "Half of my memories are gone."

The humanoid Demon looked at Manny with a neutral expression.

"Did you- AAAAHHH!"

The poison returned.

"You only need to answer questions, not ask them," the Demon said calmly.

The poisons vanished.

"Are you claiming that you have significant gaps in your memory?" the Demon asked.

"Yes!" Manny shouted. "I barely remember anything!"

The Demon slowly blinked. "That would explain your changing aura..."

"AAAAAHHHH!"

The poisons returned.

"But deleting memories isn't so easy," the Demon added. "I take back my previous words. With additional context, your lie seems more believable."

"But it's still a lie."

The Demon turned around. "You're a new Spirit Lord, which means you still have a bit less than 150,000 years of longevity left."

"Why don't you take the next 50 years to consider telling me the truth? If you tell another lie, it will be a hundred years. Another one, 200 years, and so on."

Manny watched in horror as the Demon vanished.

The poisons didn't stop.

They just kept going.

He wanted to die.

He wanted to die so badly.

...

But he couldn't.

He didn't even know why he was in this predicament.

He didn't know why the Demons had risked exposing their power to the public just to abduct him!

He didn't know who or what brought him into this situation, but he hated them!

What had he done?!

What had he done to deserve this?!

He didn't know!

He just didn't know!
