Chapter 524: Become An Archfiend
Chapter 524: Become An Archfiend
What was the saying?
From frying pan to fire?
This was exactly the situation Simon was in.
He could understand it now.
The reason why he constantly had a bad feeling in the desolate frozen expanse.
He thought it was because of Caesar alone, but it was not.
Although the situation was bad, Simon was calm and did not panic.
Even his sea of consciousness was not in a state of panic and rapid thinking because he had been preparing for this for so long now.
Or to be more precise, he had been living everyday with the thought of the Soul Mirror Demon arriving in the clan.
So, why would he panic?
Meanwhile, back in the real world, the judges, Caesar, and everybody had different thoughts and expressions after hearing the words of Black Midnight.
Those who had no knowledge of what a Soul Mirror Demon were confused and lost.
Those who knew were surprised that the Grave Lords were willing to go that far.
While those who were able to think deeper like Caesar, the judges, the instructors, and the powerhouses were suspicious.
There was no reason for the Grave Lords to bring a Soul Mirror Demon for a case like this.
They were not fools.
First of all, the case was not an extremely serious case.
The only reason why so many clan members were watching the trial was because of Simon’s fame and notoriety, and also because public trials like this were not normal events in the clan.
Simon would not be the first clan member to kill their teammates on a mission, and he would definitely not be the last.
Even if Simon was being framed by Caesar, many of them did not care in the slightest.
Simon was a slave, so why would they?
They just wanted to watch the show.
And they all believed that the Grave Lords should be the same.
Why would the Grave Lords even care about a case that was so insignificant.
Aside from these points, Caesar, the judges, and those who knew about Soul Mirror Demons were certain about one thing.
The Grave Lords had contacted the Soul Mirror Demon Clan a long time ago.
There was absolutely no way that the Grave Lords would have contacted the Soul Mirror Demon Clan so quickly just to know if Simon was innocent or guilty.
And there was no way an elder of the Soul Mirror Demon Clan would arrive for something so insignificant.
Which meant that the Grave Lords wanted to search Simon’s mind for something else entirely.
And this thing was so important to them that they had to ask an elder of the Soul Mirror Demon Clan to help.
Caesar’s eyes could not help but flash with a myriad thoughts.
"Take him back to his cell. The elder would come in a few hours."
Black Midnight ordered the Shadow Inquisitors who quickly obeyed his orders.
They approached Simon and pushed him in the direction of the building of the Shadow Inquisitors.
However, they were more gentle this time around.
They too were not fools.
For a Grave Lord to arrive personally and for an elder of the Soul Mirror Demon Clan to also arrive, it meant that Simon knew something the Grave Lords wanted at all cost.
What if they pushed Simon aggressively and he somehow fell to his death or suddenly died?
Though it was absurd to think of such a thing, they’d rather not take the chance.
As Simon was taken away, he glanced at Black Midnight who was also looking at him.
Simon looked away with the same calm and indifferent gaze he had since the first time he met all the Grave Lords.
Black Midnight frowned slightly.
Suddenly, Caesar spoke.
"My Lord, may I make a humble request?"
Black Midnight looked at Caesar, then the judges and every other person also looked at Caesar.
Simon paused, and the Shadow Inquisitors frowned but they didn’t push him or force him to move.
"What is it, Caesar?" Black Midnight said.
Caesar bowed slightly, then he gestured at Simon.
"I’ll recommend that you give one of the Inquisitors Broken Halo’s spatial ring to keep."
"I’m worried that he might possess an item that would help him in this situation."
Black Midnight raised a brow, then he looked at Simon.
"Hmm."
He hummed softly, then he looked at one of the Inquisitors.
"Make sure to remove his spatial ring and inspect it."
"Yes, my Lord." The Inquisitor nodded.
Without waiting to be told, Simon continued walking forward, completely ignoring the strange gaze that Caesar was giving him.
He also ignored everybody’s gaze as he walked.
As for Black Midnight, he left without saying anything else.
Few seconds after the Grave Lord left, every demon started speaking.
At first, their voices were low and soft due to the fear and awe they felt toward the Grave Lord, but it suddenly became loud and the entire ravine was filled with the noises of everybody’s chatter.
As for Simon, he was conversing with Lilith.
[So, what are you going to do now?]
[I don’t know the current status of the Soul Mirror Demon Clan, but your situation has gotten worse. They didn’t just bring a normal member, they brought an elder.]
Simon did not respond for a few seconds.
[You’re right. The elder is at least a Greater Demon or at worst a Demon Lord like the Grave Lords.]
Lilith could not help but chuckle at Simon’s plight.
[What if he or she is a Demon Lord? What are you going to do? Your Hollow Sky Eye might work on Greater Demons because of your unique sea of consciousness, but would it work on a Demon Lord?]
[No.]
She chuckled.
[Why am I even asking? It definitely wouldn’t. If it could, you would have killed some Demon Lords of the Shadowgrave Clan already.]
Lilith chuckled once again, but Simon did not care about that in the slightest since she was right.
If the elder was a Demon Lord, then that would be the worst.
However...
[I’ll just have to become an Archfiend before the Soul Mirror Demon arrives.]
Simon’s eyes flashed with a cold light.
