Chapter 1237 - 1236: Guardian Stone Snake
Chapter 1237 - 1236: Guardian Stone Snake
Tang Rao swung his arms and ran inside, accidentally tripping over a stone and taking a fall, but this did not dampen Tang Rao's longing for what lay ahead.Reaching the front, Tang Rao noticed a change in the sounds coming from the cave.
"Chomp chomp."
If the cave had dripping water, the sound would definitely be dripping, but the sound inside was chomp chomp, almost like some creature was eating.
Thinking about such a perfect Cave Heaven Blessed Land, it's definitely not as simple as imagined, so Tang Rao immediately slowed his pace.
"Chomp chomp."
Beyond hearing the odd sound ahead, Tang Rao detected a hint of blood.
This otherwise wonderful place now significantly lessened Tang Rao's fondness for the Cave Heaven Blessed Land.
"Whoever is ahead, no matter who you are, this place has caught my eye, so if you're smart, you'll leave quickly."
Tang Rao's imposing tone even startled himself.
Setting foot in someone else's territory without paying respect or offering benefits, Tang Rao's whims led him to this; just as he was thinking, a huge pillar knocked him to the ground.
That was bad enough, but the pillar struck Tang Rao several times more, breaking bones in several places.
Tang Rao was alarmed and dared not linger any longer, hurriedly fleeing outside.
What the heck was that thing just now? Why did Tang Rao not sense a thing when it appeared?
"Did I run into some evil spirit just now?"
Even an evil spirit wouldn't cause such grave injuries.
Looking at the almost empty bottle of elixir pills, Tang Rao felt sorry for himself.
"No, that thing just now wasn't a pillar; it seemed like a snake's tail?"
Events happened so fast that Tang Rao barely noticed he'd already been struck; only now did he realize upon recalling the recent glimpse.
"A snake's tail?"
Revisiting the scene in his mind, once the injuries were healed, Tang Rao stood at the cave entrance, eager to try again.
Thankfully this time, Tang Rao wasn't as reckless as before.
Instead, he moved slowly, step by step, further in.
"Ignorant young man, if you take one more step inside, it could be your time to die next."
An aged voice came from within, echoing in the cave, leaving Tang Rao somewhat dizzy.
"Who are you?"
Tang Rao drew out the Luminous Pearl, attempting to distract the creature inside while using the light to see the shape of what lay ahead.
"Tang Rao, who told you to come here, are you crazy?"
Tang Rao continued forward, realizing the danger ahead as Jixing suddenly awoke, frantically urging Tang Rao to stop proceeding further.
"Only now thinking to warn me, huh? Too bad it's already late."
Tang Rao gave Jixing a smile, letting him savor the feeling for himself, then continued his advance.
"Very well, I haven't seen such a bold young man like you for a long time."
The creature spoke to Tang Rao.
It was uncertain if these words were meant to praise Tang Rao or mock him with disdain.
"It's no big deal; my courage has always been great. I thought you might be a snake, turns out you really are."
Tang Rao was still a distance away; this time he took out a powerful flashlight and shone it on the creature, finally revealing its appearance.
"Hey, are you injured?"
The Big Snake didn't respond to Tang Rao.
"I see you've lost so much blood; if you keep on bleeding, you'll be a goner."
He continued trying to get close to the Big Snake.
The Big Snake knew its injuries were fatal, which was why it had only used its tail to drive Tang Rao away rather than charging directly to take his life.
"Hey, you may ignore me, but I can pretend not to recognize you. Allow me to introduce myself: I hold the most cunning profession under the starry sky; I am a cunning Alchemist. With one elixir pill, I guarantee your recovery and a robust vitality."
After speaking, Tang Rao ignored the Big Snake, instead sitting on the side, indulging in the pure Immortal Energy of the Cave Heaven Blessed Land.
Known as Guardian Stone Snake by birthright, the creature appeared here due to its innate sense of duty, and days prior, someone like Tang Rao had severely wounded the Guardian Stone Snake, thus explaining its current rage upon encountering Tang Rao.
"Hey, injured this severely must make you furious. How about we strike a deal: treat me courteously, don't eat me, and leave the cave's Immortal Energy for me? In exchange, I'll heal your wounds. How does that sound?"
Tang Rao wasn't ignorant of the obstacles he would face while cultivating inside; just needing to constantly guard against the Big Snake launching surprise attacks during his practice was quite a hassle.
"Scram!"
The Guardian Stone Snake was principled; its territory could not be interfered with by anyone.
"Forget it. You're dying anyway. Once you're dead, I'll come back, then claim everything for myself. It's the same, anyway; I have plenty of time and can wait."
Tang Rao swaggered out, though this was merely a small tactic. The Guardian Stone Snake lacked Tang Rao's wit, soon falling into his trap.
"Stop."
The Guardian Stone Snake knew that if its injuries weren't treated soon, it would perish as Tang Rao said; after its death, its duties would remain incomplete, preventing further advancement, while Tang Rao would enjoy taking possession of everything.
Any way it calculated, the Guardian Stone Snake felt it was at a loss.
"You said you'd heal me, asking only for permission to practice inside and demanding no other return; is that right?"
Though it suspected that there wasn't such a good deal around, the Guardian Stone Snake gave itself an opportunity, a possibility.
"Exactly, for merely one elixir pill I can obtain the Immortal Energy I seek; I find this trade rather worthwhile."
Tang Rao took a pill from the Space Ring, holding it in his palm to show the Guardian Stone Snake, proving the honesty of his words.
Seeing the genuine pill in Tang Rao's hand, the Guardian Stone Snake was immediately tempted.
"Fine, I agree to your terms."
The Guardian Stone Snake's acceptance did not surprise Tang Rao.
"But I don't trust that you can peacefully coexist with me; what if you reneged midway, refused me to remain inside, and tried to kill me? Then what? I feel I have to consider this carefully."
The Guardian Stone Snake had no objections remaining, yet Tang Rao suddenly dissented.
Tang Rao's concerns were understood by the Guardian Stone Snake.
"So what do you propose?"
Now it was Tang Rao's turn to speak.
"I don't propose much; I have two pills: one is for saving lives, and the other for taking lives. You must consume both; I can save you first but only after I'm out will I provide the antidote. Agree, and I'll immediately make the deal with you."
Tang Rao preferred thorough planning as it was a matter of life and death.
"Alright, I accept your terms."
Whichever way it's counted, the Guardian Stone Snake considered taking the pill as a chance for survival, while refusing would mean complete demise.
