"Heh, this is a private school. I've given my approval, so what if others object?"
Yuriko Takagi's voice carried an undeniable authority.
"it is good."
Zhou Ye gave a brief response and then hung up the phone.
Shinobu Kocho looked at Zhou Ye: "About school?"
"It's nothing, the principal just informed me and Nami that we'll be back in our teaching positions tomorrow."
Zhou Ye put his phone back in his pocket.
"Let's get back to business. I'll deal with this troublesome situation with Doma tonight."
"Tonight?" Kanao Tsuyuri seemed somewhat surprised. "We haven't fully confirmed his schedule yet."
“No need to confirm.” Zhou Ye stood up, his eyes sharp. “Let me do it my way. Just tell me the exact location of the Pure Land of Bliss.”
Shinobu Kocho handed Zhou Ye a piece of paper with an address written on it: "This is the detailed address. Are you sure you want to do it yourself?"
“Of course.” Zhou Ye took the note, glanced at it, and stuffed it into his pocket. “These kinds of games are too easy for me.”
"Do you need any support?" Saeko Busujima asked, her fingers unconsciously stroking the hilt of her sword.
Zhou Ye smiled and said, "No need. It's just an Upper Moon demon, nothing to be afraid of."
Nami, standing next to Zhou Ye, interjected, "Boss, I'll go with you."
“No, you stay here.” Zhou Ye shook his head. “If anything unexpected happens, at least someone will know what’s going on.”
Shinobu Kocho nodded: "Mr. Zhou is right. We are ready to provide support at any time."
Zhou Ye and Nami added some details about the Doma incident, then bid farewell to Shinobu and the others, and returned to their residence in a car.
Meanwhile, at the underground research institute in Raccoon City.
Inside the laboratory a hundred meters underground, the lights were a stark white. Douma sat in a metal chair, watching William Birkin operate the computer with a smile.
Doma was dressed in an elegant suit with a lotus brooch on his collar, his hands gently caressing the two golden iron fans resting on his lap. His face was handsome, but his eyes flashed with a chilling light.
"Dr. Birkin, how is your research progressing?" Douma's voice was unusually gentle, yet it sent a chill down William's spine.
William Birkin pushed up his glasses and his fingers flew across the keyboard: "The T-virus sample is ready, but the G-virus still needs final adjustments."
Doma stood up, walked over to William's side, and looked down at the constantly flashing data and charts on the screen.
“Umbrella is about to liquidate you, and the company you planned to join has refused. So why don’t you demonstrate your commercial value?” Doma’s tone was cruel.
William Birkin clenched his fists. He knew he was in danger—Umbrella had discovered his unauthorized development of the G-virus, and it was only a matter of time before they sent agents to hunt him down. The other companies he had contacted had also rejected him because of Umbrella's threats.
William, facing a desperate situation, would not give up this sliver of hope, even knowing that the other party was a cannibalistic monster.
"What is Mr. Douma's opinion?" William turned around and looked directly into Douma's eyes.
Tongmo unfolded the iron fan in his hand, and the lotus pattern on the fan surface shimmered under the light.
"Spread the T-virus in Raccoon City, and then have monsters infected with the G-virus fight each other. Wouldn't the winner then demonstrate their worth?"
William frowned: "You want to release the virus into the city? That will cause a massive outbreak!"
"What, only now are you starting to care about the lives of ordinary people?" Douma chuckled. "Don't pretend, Dr. Birkin. You and I both know that you didn't develop these viruses to cure diseases and save lives."
William fell silent. Doma was right; his initial intention in developing the G-virus was to create the perfect biological weapon, surpassing the limitations of the T-virus.
“But are you sure Muzan-sama will agree to this plan?” William asked. “If it causes too much commotion, the government might send troops to seal off the city.”
"Lord Muzan?" A hint of disdain flashed in Douma's eyes, but he quickly regained his warm smile. "You only need to consider my request. Lord Muzan has his own reasons."
William hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "I understand. I need to prepare, and it can be implemented in about three days."
Doma nodded in satisfaction: "Very good." He closed the iron fan. "To show my sincerity, I can share some demon blood with you for research. Perhaps it can help you improve the stability of the G virus."
A glint of greed flashed in William's eyes: "Really? The blood of an Upper Moon demon?"
“Of course, but on the condition that—” Douma’s voice suddenly turned cold, “Don’t try anything funny. Otherwise, you will die a more gruesome death than those infected.”
William wiped the cold sweat from his forehead: "I understand."
Douma turned to leave the lab, but suddenly stopped. "Oh, right, I'm going to the Gokuraku Jodo shop tonight. If there's any emergency, contact me tomorrow."
William nodded in agreement and watched Doma leave. Only after Doma's figure had completely disappeared behind the elevator doors did he breathe a sigh of relief and slump into his chair.
He opened an encrypted folder on his computer, which contained his long-prepared backup plan—how to escape when the city fell, and how to preserve his research findings.
“The plan has begun, Shirley,” William murmured to himself, stroking a framed photo of a little girl on the table. “Daddy will succeed.”
Outside the window, night deepened in Raccoon City. The city remained brightly lit, and people hurried along the streets, completely unaware that a disaster was brewing.
Chapter 55 Biohazard Outbreak
William Birkin stood before the large control console in the underground research facility, his hands resting flat on the cold metal surface. His glasses reflected the fluctuating data on the screen, concealing the mad glint in his eyes.
"Sir, are you sure you want to do this?"
An assistant in a white coat asked cautiously.
William turned his head, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"Do we have any other choice? Umbrella has already sentenced us to death."
Inside the control room, a dozen researchers and bodyguards stood scattered. They were all trusted confidants whom William had cultivated within Umbrella over the years, and now they faced the same desperate situation.
"Compatibility testing of the T-virus with the city's water supply system has been completed."
A female researcher reported,
"According to calculations, if the water is released through sprinkler trucks, the coverage rate can reach more than 85% of the urban area."
William nodded and walked toward the Raccoon City map hanging on the wall.
"At 4 a.m. on September 22, the water trucks set off along their usual route. By 6 a.m., the virus would have covered the main streets with the morning watering."
"I have a question."
An older researcher wearing glasses stepped forward, "Doing so would plunge the entire city into chaos, and we ourselves would be unable to extricate ourselves. Why not—"
Before he could finish speaking, William's bodyguard drew his pistol, and a shot rang out, interrupting the researcher. The bullet struck him squarely in the forehead, and the researcher fell backward, blood splattering onto the white wall.
The room fell silent instantly.
"Does anyone else have questions?"
William looked around, his voice eerily calm.
Everyone quickly lowered their heads and buried themselves in their work.
"very good."
William walked to a specially refrigerated box and gently stroked its surface. "Thanks to Mr. Doma's suggestion, this will be the best stage for me to demonstrate the value of the G virus to the world. When T virus infections begin to proliferate, we will release G virus samples. The confrontation between the two viruses will become the most perfect experimental data."
"Dr. Birkin, the G virus sample still needs final debugging."
A young assistant reports.
William smiled and nodded:
"No rush, let the T-virus get ahead of us. When the city descends into chaos and the military intervenes, the chaos will be more valuable."
He walked to the other side of the laboratory, where a dozen fully armed bodyguards stood, all equipped with the latest weapons and equipment.
"At dawn on September 23, you will split into three groups. Group A will be responsible for escorting the water trucks to ensure the smooth release of the virus. Group B will take control of the research institute's security system and cut off all contact with Umbrella's New York headquarters and Raccoon City branch. Group C will prepare the evacuation route to ensure we can leave at the appropriate time."
The bodyguard captain nodded: "Understood, Dr. Birkin."
"Remember, this is our only chance."
William turned to the entire group.
“Umbrella betrayed us, the government abandoned us, and now we pave our own way with science. When the value of the G virus is proven, new investors will come knocking.”
One of the researchers asked in a low voice, "What are Mr. Douma's conditions? Why is he helping us?"
William sneered:
"He just wants a chaotic stage. But once he discovers what kind of monsters my G-virus can create, he'll understand who the real master is."
A female assistant asked, trembling:
"What about Shirley? She's still in school..."
William's expression softened for a moment:
“My daughter’s arrangements are all set. Once we get out of there, she will receive the best care.”
William walked to the control panel and entered a password. A countdown program started—23 hours and 47 minutes until the operation began.
"Everyone, begin the final preparations now," William commanded.
"At this time tomorrow, Raccoon City will become history, and we will write a new chapter."
The researchers and bodyguards sprang into action, filling the laboratory with a tense and focused atmosphere. William walked alone toward an isolation room where a specially designed container sat.
He gently stroked the surface of the container, inside which was a constantly writhing mass of purple liquid—a blood sample of an Upper Moon demon provided by Doma.
"The fusion experiment went much more smoothly than expected."
William muttered to himself.
"The combination of the G virus and the ghost blood will create biological weapons that surpass human imagination."
On the computer screen, several city landmarks marked "backup release points" were displayed. William deliberately avoided the area near Gokuraku Jodo mentioned by Shinobu Kocho, which would be Doma's territory.
"A grand performance is about to begin."
William smiled and closed his laptop.
"Let them see who the real genius is."
September 22nd, midnight. Several ordinary municipal water trucks were secretly modified, their water tanks replaced with special containers. T-virus samples were loaded before dawn, and after daybreak, these seemingly harmless vehicles would scatter death across the streets of Raccoon City.
The underground research institute operated around the clock, and no one slept.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, oblivious citizens continue with their daily lives. Tomorrow morning, as they habitually open their windows to breathe in "fresh air," an invisible death will have already quietly descended.
William sat in the control room, his fingers lightly tapping the table. "Doma, Umbrella, Johnson, and others... I will show you all what true power is."
