Chapter 900 The Arrival of the Transcendent
January 2nd, 2014, was a Thursday. Peter, unusually free during his winter break, spent his time at home playing GTA Online. For people in 2014, GTA Online was still a relatively new game. No one could have imagined that for the next ten years they would only have this one GTA game to play, not counting the remake trilogy.
Peter was playing a game when suddenly everything went black—no, white. A bright white flash appeared before his eyes, but his spider-sense seemed to be blocked, providing no feedback whatsoever. Terrified, Peter thought he was about to enter a happy planet. His nanosuit, combined with his anti-venom suit, instantly covered his body, and the next moment he found himself in a pure white space.
Then, one person after another appeared around Peter. First, the Avengers, including Tony and Captain America, appeared. Then Peter saw Nick Fury, who was wearing a bathrobe and slippers and looked at the Avengers with a confused and wary expression. Then other heroes, the X-Men, and the Defenders also appeared in the space one after another.
Subsequently, not only the heroes, but also the villains appeared one after another. First and foremost was Lord Doom, followed by Malekith and his teammates who had been offline for a long time, then those imprisoned, including all the horror characters who came out.
The heroes and villains stared at each other, completely bewildered. Peter immediately spotted Mr. Omen hiding in the crowd, followed by Cyclops's exclamation: "Omen! You're still alive!"
The ominous sign is completely innocent. I didn't do anything wrong; I was exposed for some unknown reason. I was perfectly fine when I died, so how did I come back to life? Who is framing me?
Then Peter heard Strange's surprised voice: "Mephisto?! Tell me, is this your doing?!"
""
Strange was furious. From his perspective, Mephisto was undoubtedly the only one capable of doing this. However, Mephisto himself was also extremely confused and completely unable to understand what had happened. He looked at Strange with utmost sincerity: "If I said I didn't do this, Sorcerer Supreme, would you believe me?"
"I don't believe you, my foot!"
Cindy quickly found Peter and came to his side: "I feel very uncomfortable, like—like that day in Otto Octavia's lab."
"Same as yesterday?"
Cindy nodded, and Peter immediately realized what had happened. First, it was caused by a being from the multiverse; second, it was more powerful than Mephisto; and third, it had brought all the superheroes and villains together for some purpose.
Therefore, based on all the information gathered, there is only one person who could have accomplished all of this: the transcendent being from beyond the realm.
Before Peter could even sigh, a loud voice echoed throughout the pure white space: "Ladies and gentlemen, heroes and villains, welcome! Don't worry, in reality, you're all busy with your own affairs. We're going to do something now in this eternal second—well, let's do some introductory work."
As soon as he finished speaking, a young man wearing sunglasses and holding a guitar made a dazzling entrance, standing on the hood of a convertible car. Everyone except Peter didn't recognize him and looked at him curiously, all wondering the same thing: Who are you?
The other person was silent for a long while, then smiled and looked at Peter: "You, Spider-Man, yes, it's you! You should know who I am, right?! At least have some clues!"
"You and Kovac are of the same race, beings from a higher dimension beyond this realm. How should I address you? A transcendent?"
"That's right, Transcendent!" The Transcendent strummed his guitar and shouted, "But please don't misunderstand, don't lump me in with the Cosmic Cube. There are many Cosmic Cubes in the universe. Only those Cosmic Cubes that have awakened self-awareness and gone to the Transcendent realm are considered the infants of our race."
"But I! I am different. I am Clark Kent, who surpasses even the gods. I am the Superman among Supermen. I am—"
'
Peter added, "Isn't that Superman the Ultimate?"
The interrupted Beyonder was silent for a few seconds, clearly deep in thought. Then he realized that Spider-Man seemed to be right, but wasn't Superman the Ultimate a clear supervillain? That wouldn't do. The Beyonder hadn't even decided whether he was a hero or a villain yet. In the end, he didn't even understand the definitions of hero and villain.
Just then, the captain spoke up: "So, Mr. Beyonder, may I ask why you came to our universe?"
"Your universe? Haha, wrong, I've come from your multiverse! That devil over there, yes, it's you. Look, even a being like him has to go through many twists and turns to get into your universe, while I can just pass through directly. This proves that I am far more vast than your insignificant multiverse!"
The transcendent clearly didn't realize that the logic of his statement was actually flawed; he simply waved his hand, presenting different scenes to everyone.
Captain America saw himself before his eyes: joining Hydra and the Third Reich, dying in an experiment, becoming the President of the United States and being shot in the head by an assassin. Captain America is not always the moral exemplar in different universes.
Similarly, Tony, still an arms dealer, has become an evil monopolistic capitalist, and in a civil war that breaks out for reasons unknown, he kills Captain America. All of this is unacceptable to Tony.
As for Peter, sorry, I've seen enough of the Spider-Man variants from the League of Spiders and the Web of Spiders, especially when you realize that Penny Parker is actually a variant of Peter Parker. If you can accept the premise that these two are actually the same person from different universes, then there's nothing unacceptable about it.
What? You say it's possible? Then please remember, Penny Parker is a magical girl on Earth-23.
"I have explored your multiverse and discovered a problem: some things, heroes are ordinary people, villains, or are already dead, and a trivial detail can change the fate of a person or even a world. That is why I am puzzled."
The Superman stated his purpose: "I want to know what a hero is and what a villain is. Of course, not heroes and villains of ordinary people, but superheroes and supervillains."
