Chapter 473 Wanda is very brave
Chapter 473 Wanda is very brave
The Jedi Council meets again.
The purpose of their gathering was clear and simple - to welcome the long-lost last Avenger brought back from Dathomir by Obi-Wan and Anakin.
For them, as with Vision, it's easy to feel the power she radiates, though it's much less than that of the synthetic Avengers.
Not that it wasn't still obvious. Her powers were unique, to say the least.
To describe this power, one word is enough - chaos.
As they gazed upon her, their eyes were unconsciously drawn to her attire.
The traditional colors worn by Jedi Knights are brown, white, gray, and beige, while darker colors such as black and dark robes are occasionally favored by other characters. The Sith prefer a deep black.
However, the scarlet red that Scarlet Witch is wearing is particularly striking and unsettling, but then again, she has been dressed this way throughout her time on Dathomir, and she may not have had the opportunity to change into a different color since arriving on Coruscant.
After a brief silence, Yoda, Grand Master of the Jedi Order, was the first to break the silence.
"Ms. Maximoff, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." He greeted her in a friendly tone, "The Avengers have experienced great frustration and anxiety in their search for their lost comrades."
“I understand that very well,” Wanda responded politely, nodding slightly. “It’s nice to meet you all. Thank you for providing shelter for my friends when they were looking for me.”
"We cannot express our gratitude to the Avengers in words." Plo Kun's deep voice echoed in the meeting hall. "They have given us great support in this exhausting war."
Wanda was in silent contemplation, without saying a word.
Yoda spoke loudly, eyes closed, "We can sense many things from you, Ms. Maximoff."
"That power... is not the Force," Master Ki-Adi Mundi explained. "Much like Vision, your brother, and Peter Parker."
Wanda raised her eyebrows slightly. Does Peter also have some special abilities?
Don't they know that, except for those touched by the Mind Stone, it is difficult to find traces of the Force in other people? So, what makes Peter so different?
"We are curious about this as well, Ms. Maximoff," Windu responded, as if he had caught her silent question. "But the focus at the moment is not Mr. Parker. We wish to communicate with you in private."
His gaze passed Wanda and fell on Captain America, Quicksilver, Black Widow, Vision, War Machine, Falcon and others standing behind the assembled council.
"Let's talk about the message you brought back from Dathomir," Eddie Gallia said calmly. "With your return, the leader of the Nightsisters, Mother Talzin, has sent a request for your help in finding Gthzeran."
He continued, "Not only her, but many other clan leaders have sent similar requests."
“Can you tell us something about this founding witch of Dathomir?” Shaak Ti’s holographic projection asked, “Whoever this witch is, she must be in a serious crisis to have so many tribal leaders ask us for help.”
Wanda nodded in agreement to the Togruta Jedi Masters. "You are right."
She crossed her arms in thought. "From the history, she was a prominent member of the Nightsisters before she was exiled for her actions centuries ago. Yes, she schemed in some corner of the galaxy. Her methods were cunning and effective."
For the committee members, it was a shock to see Wanda display her power for the first time. Except for Obi-Wan who had known about it before, the rest of them were seeing it for the first time.
"Just like she was planning to fight me, but in the end all she did was find me and didn't recruit me. There was only a small dispute between us, just to test how weak I was compared to her." Wanda said slowly.
"Did she leave the planet through a spell?" Mundi asked in an incredulous tone.
"The witches of Dathomir use the Force in ways that are beyond our understanding and imagination." Windu explained, "They are not always addicted to the dark side. On the contrary, some groups even tend to the light side."
"However, their actions were misunderstood and labeled. This is because they understood a truth: darkness is not something that can be conquered from the outside, but an existence deep in the heart." Wanda said frankly, "Trying to eliminate it is tantamount to deceiving oneself. Every aspect of the Force is shared by all things and cannot be stifled."
Several committee members looked at each other, then their eyes focused on Wanda again.
“You have a deep understanding of the Force, no doubt about that,” Master Yoda commented.
"I have a certain understanding. Since I set foot on Dathomir, I have gained a lot of insights here, enough for me to express my opinion on this." Wanda replied modestly.
"I sense that you have reservations about our teachings." Mace's words revealed more observation than questioning.
"Maybe with some reservations, maybe not." She responded lightly.
"So what do you think of our order?" Shaak Ti asked.
Faced with this question, Wanda remained silent at first, looking down at the ground, then looking around at her friends. They stood there expressionlessly, neither encouraging nor stopping her from making any comments on the Knights, but just quietly waiting for her answer.
After taking a deep breath, she looked up and looked the Jedi Council member in the eye, expressing her opinion without reservation.
"Frankly, I think you have too narrow a view of the Force and of life itself."
Surprisingly, the Jedi Council did not react negatively as she had expected. Instead, they seemed more willing to listen to her point of view.
"When you say 'narrow', what do you mean specifically?" Yoda demanded.
"First of all, it is a restraint on the self." Wanda answered without hesitation, "Those who think there is only one way to understand or use the Force are stupid. In the vastness of the universe, contradictions and conflicts always seem to follow each other." Wanda frowned and said to the people around her: "Don't you all care about each other? I mean, isn't the relationship between teachers and students also a bond to jointly resist the various crises lurking in the galaxy?"
"Our job, Ms. Maximoff," Windu replied calmly, "is to spread compassion, not just to one person."
Wanda shook her head slightly, "But you seem a little set in your ways."
"Yet it has remained peaceful for a thousand years."
Wanda saw it differently. "Really?" she questioned. "I hate to be blunt, but you seem to be confusing peace with tranquility. The Sith still exist, don't they? They've always been here, you just discovered them now." She smiled sarcastically.
She then snorted in a sarcastic tone, "As for the Sith, they are no better. Manic, power-hungry sycophants who gain power just as quickly as they lose it. They are simply so blinded by their own ambition that they can never see what they are capable of."
Traya and Zozo's experiences flashed through Wanda's mind, causing her to think more deeply about the situation at hand. "It's like you're trying to play God, working with the people you want to help or guide. You're afraid that your actions will cause ripples that affect everything around you." She shook her head and snorted, "This is something you and the Sith are trying to control, but you're all doing it wrong. Even with all your efforts, wars still rage, slavery is widespread, and corruption is everywhere."
At this time, Luminara Unduli spoke, her tone was a little cold: "You mean, let us enforce our will in a tough and even tyrannical way throughout the galaxy."
Wanda retorted, "No, what I'm saying is that you should be more proactive in your actions in the galaxy instead of hiding in your comfort zone day after day. Maybe by then, the Sith will be just a distant memory."
After hearing this, Windu retorted sharply: "You seem to be blaming all the disasters in the galaxy on the Jedi Knights." His words revealed deep disappointment and confusion.
However, Wanda did not back down. She firmly believed in her point of view and was determined to find a new way out for the future of the galaxy. At this moment, the meeting was interrupted by Vision. A robot in a battle suit coughed lightly, stepped forward and stood beside Wanda.
"Excuse me, fellow commissioners," Vision said in a humble tone, "Lord Windu, I have carefully considered your previous remarks."
Windu nodded slightly, his tone full of expectation: "What do you think?"
Vision bowed his head slightly and said frankly, "I agree with part of your point, Master Windu. In fact, this also applies to our own team."
As soon as he finished speaking, the other five Avengers couldn't help but look up, their eyes focused on Vision.
"As you know, the current Avengers are not complete," Vision continued, "There are more members waiting for us to meet. With the addition of Parker, Murdoch, and Techara, we have reason to believe that there will be more Avengers on Earth, and their power will be further enhanced."
The parliament fell into silence, and everyone's eyes were focused on Vision. The atmosphere at this moment was solemn and dignified.
"Looking back at the history of our world," Vision's voice sounded like a history teacher giving a vivid lesson, "many people have pointed out that Captain Rogers was the first superhero on Earth. He showed up to fight against the megalomaniac known as the Red Skull. Although later heroes were not as famous as him, some people stood up quietly during his decades of absence. For example, the predecessors of Ant-Man and the Wasp - Ms. Van Dyne's parents. And the emergence of Tony Stark marked the birth of Iron Man. During the eight years that Mr. Stark was active in the world as an armored superhero, the number of people with extraordinary abilities grew exponentially. At the same time, however, the threat of doomsday increased at the same rate."
"Vision." Captain America finally spoke and interrupted Vision's narration.
But Vision decided to make his point. He spoke again, his voice revealing deep wisdom, "Now, let's get back to your order and your fight against the Sith. Have you ever delved into the root of the conflict?
The Jedi looked at each other, as if searching for answers in their hearts, but no one could speak.
Vision sighed and continued, "From what I have learned about your order, I have detected a series of causes and effects and patterns. Young ladies Parker, Tano, and Orphee are curious about your history, and their desire for knowledge is obvious."
"Vision, is there really a reason for all this?" There was a slight anxiety in Plo Koon's voice.
Vision paused for a moment, tapping his fingers on the air, as if searching for the right words. "I believe that you view the conflicts and wars that the Order has experienced in a very narrow way. This is not just a problem for us, but for any enhanced individual who comes here."
"We ourselves establish our dominance and power in response to the dangers and threats we overthrow. Our power, our possessions, and even the nature of our organization all derive from this power. There is a causal relationship at work. Our power attracts challenges, challenges lead to conflicts, and conflicts breed new disasters. The will of the force may be far from this concept, it is more like a power of personal choice. Or it may be closely linked to the laws of the universe itself."
"So, what does this mean, Vision?" Luminara asked calmly.
Vision frowned, his voice heavy: "The prophecy of the Chosen One... This may bring us temporary peace, but new threats and new challenges will always emerge. They may appear in familiar ways, or in new ways that we never expected. Even if a great evil or threat is defeated, who can guarantee that there will not be new enemies to replace it? In this universe, each of us is the architect of our own destiny, whether directly, indirectly or in other ways. We must realize that true peace and harmony are not given by the outside world, but come from our inner transformation and choice."
In this way, the Jedi Knights received a profound revelation. They understood that behind the conflict was not only war and evil, but also a profound philosophy about power, choice and the laws of the universe. Under the guidance of Vision, they began to re-examine themselves and their team, and find the true power and peace in their hearts. In the vortex of fate, there will always be a life or a force that stands up to fight against us. However, the question is whether we have enough courage and strength to resist it and protect the safety of those innocent people. Can we really be indifferent to those conflicts that have nothing to do with us?
"So, how do we respond?" Obi-Wan asked, his voice full of worry. "Are all our efforts, all the losses the galaxy has endured, in vain? I firmly believe that if the galaxy is facing a crisis, I will not choose to stand idly by. I believe you will agree with me."
"But are we really fulfilling our duties as Jedi Knights?" Kit Fisto suddenly asked, frowning. "This war seems to be happening right before our noses. There is no doubt that this is a conspiracy carefully planned by the Sith."
"This is just them challenging our strength again." Plo Koon crossed his arms and muttered to himself.
"Alas," Falcon whispered to the others, "this relentless war. How long have they lingered here?"
"Thousands of years, either give or be conquered." Black Widow replied softly.
They refocused their attention on the meeting at hand, looking toward the committee where various issues were being discussed.
"You have given us many topics to discuss," Yoda said, his eyes reflecting deep thought. "I would like to discuss them in depth with Ms. Maximoff during our time on Dathomir. But we need to find the right time and place."
Wanda simply nodded, her expression showing that she was not willing to participate in such a discussion, but she also knew that they would not leave her alone until she revealed her experience on Dathomir.
Of course she would face it, but her heart was filled with doubts. She could imagine how they would react if she told them about Saku and Traya.
The Jedi Council seemed a bit dull, at least for now. Most of them seemed to be basking in the truth that Wanda was revealing, if she could call it that, and perhaps feeling a little relieved.
