Chapter 21 Madman
Chapter 21 Madman
No one in the alchemy workshop paid any attention to Lynn.
Lynn was quite happy to have some free time.
He surveyed the vast area.
There are twelve people in total.
Everyone has their own alchemy workbench, separated from each other by wooden screens, much like the company's office in my previous life.
However, there is more personal space here, and people are spaced far apart.
It wasn't that Nareel was concerned about the mental health of these alchemists.
The main concern is the potential for a chain reaction caused by an experimental accident.
However, this gave Lynn the opportunity to do something underhanded.
Lynn walked deeper into the field and chose an experimental table away from the crowd.
There are many experimental tables here.
After all, Baron Narell was wealthy and powerful, and he had no shortage of equipment and materials; what he lacked was talent.
This was also the first time Lynn had seen the equipment in the complete alchemy textbook.
Lynn was somewhat excited.
These devices are incredibly professional.
If he had had such equipment back then, the Cat's Eye Night Cream he refined could probably have reached the second or even first grade quality!
As Lynn was fiddling with the equipment, the group of alchemists made a move.
The leader was an old man with a white beard and a Mediterranean hairstyle.
Two or three alchemists gathered around him.
One of the brown-haired men with a pointed face whispered, "Teacher, look, that so-called genius alchemist."
Old Turner didn't even turn his head, continuing to busy himself with his experiments on the alchemy table.
He scoffed, "What's so interesting, Naji? Let that genius do his thing."
Naji glanced back at Lynn, then covered his mouth and laughed, "Teacher, that's not what I meant. Look at that genius fiddling with the equipment, he's like a country bumpkin in the city. I can't believe he's really an alchemist? Or is he some kind of shoemaker?"
Upon hearing this, old Turner couldn't help but turn his head and glance at him.
He looked at Lynn with a hint of smugness in his eyes.
"Hmph, whatever he looks like, ignore him. After all, he's a genius personally sought out by the Baron; how could I dare to mentor him?"
Najib understood immediately and began to flatter him.
"That's right. Everyone in this workshop was trained by you, teacher, so naturally we have to listen to you. If we spend too much time with this genius, we might not even be able to clean a test tube properly."
The alchemists around him chuckled softly upon hearing this.
Old Turner was very satisfied and said smugly, "Very good. It seems that my students are not ungrateful and know their own limitations. With this, you can walk steadily on the path of alchemy. Unlike some people, who don't even have the most basic attitude."
The surrounding alchemists understood immediately and showered old Turner with compliments.
After all, old Turner was the founder of this alchemy workshop and was Baron Narell's earliest collaborator.
These were all talented individuals discovered by Baron Narell.
If it weren't for the knowledge of alchemy that Old Turner taught them, how could they have the strength they have today?
Old Turner often claimed to be the strongest alchemist in Nareel.
He naturally felt disgusted by Lynn's so-called genius.
In particular, this genius did not show him any respect or admiration.
Ha, a genius?
A genius who looks no more than twenty-seven or twenty-eight?
Do not make jokes.
For an average person, it would take twenty years just to learn the basics of alchemy.
This was based on Old Turner's experience in the Kingdom of Sirnus.
For Lynn, who had no northern features whatsoever and was purely a Nareel native, this was a different story.
Old Turner held him in deep contempt.
How many experiments can someone who can't even learn the basics do?
How dare he call himself a genius?
Lynn continued to fumble with the experimental equipment, recalling the operations from the textbook.
The alchemists behind the cricket-keeping figures seemed to have grown tired of it and returned to their workstations.
It wasn't until quite some time later that the doors to the alchemy workshop were opened.
It's Brown Nerrell.
He still had that sinister look.
"Good morning, my great alchemists. How have things been lately?"
Old Turner greeted him with a smile.
"Rest assured, Your Excellency, everything is proceeding according to plan. The medium-star potion you requested will be ready in a week."
Brown Narell nodded, unsurprised by the answer.
He then asked, "How's the development of the three-star potion going?"
Old Turner chuckled and said, "Sir, you know the success rate of producing three-star potions. Even if we use all our strength, we might not be able to produce one in a year."
Brown Narell looked somewhat disappointed and changed the subject.
"Let's not talk about that now."
He pointed to Lynn in the corner, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"This is the alchemy genius I've just found. You've already spoken to him, haven't you?"
Old Turner was somewhat speechless.
Brown Narell gave a cold laugh.
"It seems Mr. Turner has a lot of opinions about my decision."
Old Turner was startled and quickly waved his hand.
"My lord, how could I dare to object to your decision? It's just...it's just..."
Turner was rambling incoherently.
Brown Narell grew impatient and waved his hand.
"Turner, we've known each other for over thirty years, you know my bottom line. As long as you can still help me concoct the potion, I won't touch you."
Old Turner secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Brown Narrell continued, "Lynn is my newly discovered alchemical genius. He's very talented and young. Given enough room to grow, I think he could even surpass your level, but I no longer have the patience or time to wait. Turner, you know what I'm going to say?"
Old Turner quickly replied, "Don't worry, I will do my best to mentor Mr. Lynn."
Brown nodded and looked at Lynn beside him.
"Lynn, you know how much I value you, right?"
Lynn bowed his head and said, "Thank you for your kindness."
Brown shook his head.
"Thanks alone are not enough; I need to see your results. You are different from others. I'm only giving you one month; you need to tell me what you can achieve by then."
Lynn thought for a moment and then asked, "I wonder what Mr. Turner's alchemy skills are like? I'd like to have a reference point."
Brown glanced at old Turner.
Old Turner cleared his throat, a hint of pride in his voice.
"Ahem, I am not very talented, but I was once a student at the Sinus National Academy. I can now refine mid-to-three-star potions, with the highest quality reaching second grade, and the success rate is around 20%."
After saying that, old Turner looked at Lynn, his eyes shining with pride and arrogance.
He was eagerly anticipating the reaction of this so-called genius.
Lynn thought for a moment and casually said, "Then, Your Excellency, I'll aim for Mr. Turner's level. You'll see my results in a month, but only if you provide me with enough materials to practice with."
Turner's smile froze on his face.
What did he just say?
He wants to catch up to his current level in a month!?
Are you kidding me!
Who does he think he is, to think he can catch up with decades of hard work in just one month?!
Madman! What a madman!
No, he's an absolute scoundrel!
Old Turner's face gradually turned red; he hadn't expected this bastard to be so arrogant!
Can he reach his level in a month?
Go to hell! He would never help this shameless bastard!
He wanted to teach this braggart a lesson about the terrible consequences of deceiving Baron Narell!
But Brown Narell finally had a genuine smile on his face.
He burst into laughter, walked over, and gave Lynn a firm hug.
"Lynn! I knew you'd surprise me! But you know perfectly well the consequences of breaking your promise to me, right?"
Brown's eyes gleamed with excitement and madness.
Lynn nodded calmly.
"Please rest assured, Your Excellency, I will not let you down."
Brown nodded in satisfaction.
He praised him a few more times and then led old Turner out of the workshop.
Outside the workshop.
Old Turner was a little uneasy.
He didn't know what the Baron wanted from him.
Brown Narell had lost the excitement he had shown in the workshop and had reverted to his usual gloomy demeanor.
"Turner, from this day forward, Lynn will have the highest authority within the manor. He can allocate alchemical materials at will. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Your Excellency."
Old Turner nodded reluctantly.
"but......"
Brown Narell then changed his tone.
"I also have a new task for you. You must not let Lynn touch any dark alchemical materials without my permission, understand?"
Old Turner was taken aback for a moment upon hearing this, then smiled.
It seems the Baron doesn't entirely trust this so-called genius after all...
"Yes, Your Excellency."
