Chapter 892 It's like visiting relatives during Chinese New Year (Happy New Year everyone!)
Peter gave Susan a rather common gift: cosmetics, because he really didn't know what else to give her. He gave Franklin a copy of "Hilbert's Twenty-Three Problems," leaving Franklin completely bewildered: "Why this, Benjamin?"
"Because this is mathematics."
"Mathematics has evolved to the point where it's nothing more than an abstract game for a group of people, and it has long since lost its practical significance. I can assure you that my father would never dare to introduce infinitesimals, which are both negligible and non-negligible, into physics calculations—and most importantly, about half of the problems in this area have already been solved."
Franklin wasn't entirely satisfied, but he accepted the gift nonetheless. Although it seemed he had no intention of pursuing pure numbers, at least he didn't dislike the gift.
As for Valya, Peter brought something even simpler. Valya is a child whose intelligence is supposed to be even higher than Reed's, so Peter didn't give her anything scientific. He gave her a set of Fantastic Four figurines.
Yes, it also comes with a Doom figure, who is the villain. Although Doom has never authorized anyone, the toy manufacturer doesn't care about that and still made it.
Then the Fantastic Four witnessed the tragic scene of Little Wa abandoning his parents' toys.
Lunch was still a while away, so Peter sat down by the bookshelf and picked up a book. Franklin opened to "Hilbert's Twenty-Three Problems" and asked as he read, "Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing you do any work with my parents, Benjamin. Why did they invite you out separately?"
Peter thought about it for a moment and realized that what Franklin said seemed to be true. Theoretically, he didn't have much contact with the Fantastic Four. He had the identity of an intern, but this identity was actually a fake identity created for the research on cross-verse travel. He basically didn't receive any internship salary and rarely came to Baxter Building to conduct experiments.
As for battles and adventures, Peter almost never acted with the Fantastic Four. The only time he could be considered to have participated in the Fantastic Four's mission was when they went to the Zombie Universe. Due to Reed's negligence, the Fantastic Four ended up on Earth 2149. Peter and Doom rescued them, and Doom also blew up Earth 2149 when there were no survivors left.
Although it now seems likely that at least a portion of Earth 2149 was reclaimed by the Beyonders.
"I'm not entirely sure either, maybe our personalities are more compatible?"
"I don't think so. You're working yourself to the bone all day long—to be honest, although many people compare my parents to the Avengers and think of them as superheroes, they're not. They're more like an adventure team from a children's cartoon. They love adventure and are more inclined towards it."

Peter sighed. "I really hope that one day I can take risks on my own initiative."
Franklin shook his head, thinking Peter could never do it. Just then, the Thing brought the stew to the table and said the food was ready. Everyone got up to eat, and the Invisible Woman picked up Little Varian, who was sitting on the floor playing "King Doom Beats the Fantastic Four," and they ate together.
"After the Ultron incident, it seemed like nothing much happened, and things calmed down all at once."
As the Stone Man ate, Peter spoke, and while he wanted to remind him that there were still two major issues to resolve—the Inhumans and Malekith—he decided against bringing it up at Christmas. So he simply ate in silence, while Susan chatted with Ben about his girlfriend.
Johnny then leaned closer to Peter and whispered, "What do you think of Switzerland?"
"What do you mean?"
"I'm planning to go skiing next year, what do you think of Switzerland?"
"If you're just looking for a ski resort, why not go to Colorado?"
Johnny looked surprised: "Oh, America has ski resorts? I mean, outside of Alaska, Alaska is too cold."
"No, why would you complain about being cold while skiing? If you're so cold, why do you go skiing?" Peter completely failed to understand Johnny's reasoning: "And why would the Human Torch be afraid of the cold?"
"Of course I'm not afraid of the cold, I mean, I'm worried the ski resort won't be pretty enough." Johnny looked around after saying that, then whispered to Peter, "I mean, I'm planning to find a few girls to go skiing with. No Ben, no Reed, no my sister, just me and a few girls. Is Alaska really a place suitable for bringing girls along?"
Peter silently chose to eat, but Johnny clearly had no intention of giving up on Peter. His idea was to trick Peter into going with him, since it would be so boring to go alone.
However, after seeing his older sister's gaze, he reluctantly shut his mouth and obediently ate his food.
Peter didn't stay with the Fantastic Four for very long. He left after a while because he had to rush to other Christmas parties, such as the Defenders', the Avengers', and finally the Spider-Man's Base. The whole process was a bit like visiting relatives during the Chinese New Year, and he had to finish it all in one day.
Fortunately, things were relatively simple with the Defenders. After all, Peter was a minor and didn't drink alcohol. After staying for a while, Peter left with the gifts the Defenders gave him: a map of New York City specially marked by the Defenders, a map of New York's latest underworld compiled by them and various informants.
Or rather, the title of the instance, which records one unit after another after Kingpin's transformation, the fall of the Hand, and the capture of others, creating new gangs that will be the Defenders' new targets next year.
In addition, there are various safe houses and information on trustworthy friendly outposts. Unfortunately, Punisher Frank did not come, and therefore there is no mark of him.
"That's a good opportunity to give Gwen a try—with Felicia and the Defenders around, nothing too serious should happen, and there aren't any supervillains I remember. There really aren't many big fish left in New York right now—"
Peter had changed out of his Fantastic Four sweater and into regular clothes. He then found a place to open the Suspension Gate, threw the map into the warehouse, closed the gate, opened another Suspension Gate, and arrived at the Avengers Base Activity Center in New Jersey.
Then he saw Bob, dressed in casual clothes and wearing an apron, washing dishes.
"Oh, hey, hello Peter."
"—Hello, Bob."
