Chapter 894 The Avengers Assemble

Chapter 894 The Avengers Assemble

Chapter 894 The Avengers Assemble

After only a short stroll through the mansion prison, Peter met Pym, who was, as always, providing psychological counseling to the prisoners, encouraging them to reform and become people who could contribute to society.

Although in most cases, it doesn't help much.

"Hello, Peter, it's great to have you here—most people wouldn't come here."

Pym smiled somewhat helplessly, and Peter replied half-jokingly, "Perhaps everyone assumes this is your private space, Dr. Pym, and they don't intend to interfere with your work."

"In fact, if everyone could care about these people's families and lives like you do, perhaps they really could turn over a new leaf."

Pym looked down the long corridor with a touch of melancholy. The mansion prison was far from full, but Pym didn't want it to ever be.

But Peter didn't think Pym's fantasy could come true: "Not everyone can change their ways, Dr. Pym. The simplest example is Baron Strucker; you can't expect him to change his ways. And there are many more who, before they can change, have already crossed that line. I think Otto is pitiful, but I don't think his ending is a pity."

"Perhaps you are right, Peter, but who has the right to determine who can repent and who cannot?"

Pym shook his head: "Like me, I created Ultron, but everyone thinks it wasn't my fault."

"Then it's not—"

"Ultron's programming comes from my brainwaves, Peter," Pym sighed helplessly, then delivered his outrageous statement: "Vision is Vision because he also has a part of Jim Hammond, but Ultron comes entirely from me, and the safe world that Ultron desires for humanity is a world that enslaves humans. Do you understand what that means?"

"This means that no matter how advanced the binary code is, it cannot simulate a kind soul. Doctor, don't go to such extremes."

Peter felt that Pym's internal strife was serious: "Putting all that aside, if you want to protect humanity, you have to become human, and that was Ultron's own decision."

After hearing this, Pym remained silent for a while, then nodded somewhat helplessly: "You're right, this is Ultron's own decision. It doesn't know which path leads to true peace and security, just like I don't. Alright, let's go. I've seen all the prisoners here, and I've given each of them their Christmas presents."

The two returned to the Avengers base. By then, Bumblebee was already back, and Thor walked in carrying a huge pile of canned beer. Peter looked around and noticed that Vision and Tony seemed to be the only ones missing, so he asked curiously, "Speaking of which, where are Vision and Mr. Stark?"

"I don't know, well, anyway, Tony's never late for parties," Banner said, glancing at the clock on the wall. "Vision still has to help with some issues, right? Wasn't he supposed to be busy until at least 7 PM?"

"He should be able to operate remotely; I just saw him in Ultron's chapel." After Peter finished speaking, he noticed Banner's worried expression and asked, "What happened, Dr. Banner?"

"Oh, it's my fault." Bob, who had just finished washing the dishes, immediately took the blame: "I told Dr. Banner that I saw the president and a red Hulk in a mountain. The Hulk claimed to be General Ross, and then Dr. Banner did this—"

"Red Hulk?"

"It must be the mastermind. He was transported to Cube, and Ross has been trying to create a controllable gamma monster. He saw Bronsky as a step forward," and now it's clear he experimented on himself, turning himself into another Hulk.

Banner clutched his cheek as if he had a toothache: "The big guy was furious when he heard the news. I spent a lot of time explaining to him why we shouldn't go and smash up the White House and the Pentagon, and that it's Christmas today, everyone should be happy, um—"

Banner wasn't surprised by the Red Hulk question itself. After all, Ross had been conducting gamma experiments for quite some time. He both hated the Hulk as a monster and wished that the entire US military were like the Hulk, an unparalleled monster.

After a moment's thought, Peter asked Banner, "Do you need me to neutralize General Ross's abilities, Hulk?"

Banner looked at Peter with considerable surprise and asked, "Is this even possible?"

"I'm not entirely sure. Anti-Venom can treat acquired mutations as an anomaly and eliminate them, but I'm not sure if it will reappear after the anomaly is eliminated. I've never used this ability before."

Banner opened his mouth, then shook his head. He knew he had tried similar methods to eliminate abilities before. Back then, the leader had surgically removed the gamma energy from his body, supposedly making it so that the Hulk would never exist again. But what happened? When fighting the Abomination, he landed on the plane and still managed to summon the Hulk.

With his own example as a precedent, he didn't expect Ross's abilities to be eliminated so easily.

"Rose will definitely ask to join the Ultimate Team. The Ultimate Team already has Patriot, War Machine, and Ares, who are comparable to me, Tony, and Thor. Now there's Red Hulk, who is comparable to Hulk. Besides, Ross was in charge of managing the Avengers in America before. He won't just give up like this."

The captain drank some water from the table as he spoke, but someone who overheard him was annoyed: "Hey guys, why are you talking about work on a holiday? Today's supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable day—at least for a few hours."

Tony walked in, laughing. The captain and Banner, who had just been frowning, also laughed. Thor even tore open the top of a beer can and held it up: "Stark was right, we just won a glorious victory! It's time to celebrate! Enjoy the food and drinks!"

"I heard the celebrations; I hope I'm not too late."

Vision walked through the wall and entered the room, where he saw the gifts piled up under the Christmas tree: "Oh, wait a minute, I prepared gifts for everyone."

Vision then emerged from the wall again, and Tony looked at Captain America: "Should we wait for him?"

The captain sat on the sofa, smiling and shaking his head: "I bet Vision will be back soon."
